There will be a ton of grilling done tomorrow and I know everyone has a particular way they enjoy to prepare the juiciest, most delectable slab of meat possible.

What kind of beef, seasoning, and preperation do you do to get the meat just right. Forget the garnishings that get put on after...those are secondary to the quality of the meat.

    What's your dish? :)

No lean beef! If it doesn't clog your arteries, it doesn't taste good!

    Plain ground chuck

    a little salt & pepper

hand pounded into fairly thin patties

hot grill that will allow them to shrink back into fairly thick burgers

Only turn once so 5-8 minutes per side depending on how done you want them

One slice of sharp cheddar and one slice of monterey jack for the last minute or so.

    Simple but perfect IMHO.

The rest is in the condiments/breads

Pour beer on them when youre grilling. Ive grown used to the taste. We used to do that when we were teenagers. Not some great import or classy beer, but good old coors regular or budweiser. And no light beers! They're for *******!

The most over-looked component when cooking out is the bread/buns. Do yourselves a favor and go to the bakery and get fresh kaiser rolls. I can't stand when someone cooks out and, after going through all the efforts of their "special" recipe, they pull out a plastic sack of chemical buns.

    Salt
    Pepper
Whosyersister Sauce - go easy as patties can get too wet
Whatever Brand of Louisiana Hot Sauce I've got on hand - each has it's own quirks, so amount varies

    Veggie Burger or topping:
Mushroom - buttons for topping | Portobello for "Veggie Patty" meat substitute
Butter for cowmunchers | Margarine for sissies
    Whosyersister Sauce - go heavy

    My household prefers sourdough breads

    OOO yeah.

I've never been a fan of burgers, dogs, or American food for that matter. It's hard to find good cooked piece of meat IMO. Sometimes it's too dry, undercooked, overcooked, ugh.

But I'm a fan of the big burger.

Those buns are especially good when they are about 1 day away from expiration date and they have absolutely no taste or flavor at all. And don't bother to toast them on the grill, just serve them straight out of the bag to maintain their total absence of flavor, color, or texture!

Im the burger maker in my house. What I do is take lean ground beef. put it in a bowl. Dice a white onion, toss it in there, add salt and pepper. Put some bread crumbs in the bowl. Crack an egg in there and mix it with you hands.
