As someone once wrote: "The meek shall inherit the earth!". Looks like that day has finally arrived!. I'm afraid for the likes of you, Myself and many others, we are now dinosaurs living in the modern age!.
+1, you can count Me in on that as well, in many ways, "Back in our day", they were better times that we lived in!.
A Super License should be like James Bond's license to kill. Burnouts at will, anytime, anyplace. Monaco has the traffic rules exemption for the royal family and F1 drivers have taken some of the members out on a few demonstration laps. Dangerous but cool.
This thread is like the cartoon show where the teenage superheros put there rings togeather but say "Hamilton Haters Assemble !"
Exactly. I'm no Hami fan, but any F1 driver who does donuts on public streets gets my adoration. What's there not to like? I'm only disappointed that he apologized for it.
There's a huge difference between dangerous street racing and stupid, over-the-top politically-correct overreaction to hanging the tail out around a corner.
I note that Varsha on SpeedTV during qualifying said that Hami was doing donuts on public streets in Australia. Varsha is God. He must be right. (this post was made in jest. Anyone who wants to go to nuclear war over this should sit in a cold dark room until the feeling goes away.) Meawhile I am going skiing now. Have a great day! Forza Ferrari!
car being impounded is not that over the top. yes i think it's excessive but the fact is that it IS dangerous and just because the driver in question can handle it, you do have to set an example to discourage the behavior in the general public. anyway it's silly to turn this into a critique of law enforcement. i do have to agree with Andreas. i'm more disappointed in Hamilton's apology than the infraction itself. he should have said "i'm sorry ... that there wasn't more room to do a burnout and put up a getaway smokescreen!"
I was just rewatching an older F1 documentary by ITV called F1: Chasing The Dream, about McLaren's preparations for the 2007 season with their new drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. When you get to the part where they unveil the car in Valencia they have this moment were you see Ron Dennis, Anthony Hamilton, engineers, PR guys all telling Lewis and Fernando "No donuts". The next shot is Lewis and Fernando in matching SLs doing donuts. Had to chuckle at that.
Law makers make the law........police enforce it, and to have two laws (one for us mere mortals) and one for F1 drivers is tantamount to insanity, if by chance he hit a pedestrian then would people still praise him......? I doubt it. Or if it was your child that was hit.....I could only imagine the condemnation he would receive, luckily he didn't hit anyone or anything, he had his chance to play on the track and that's where he should have left it.
don't be sensible ffs! but yeah. you can tell by the look on his face...he knows it was stupid too....he looked like a kid who knew he'd done the wrong thing and would be in a LOT of trouble. maybe it runs in the family? his old man wrecked a Porsche GT remember.
therein lies the problem.......a product of its old man. what was the comment made by channel 9 a few years ago? "cant bowl.....cant bat" in this instance sh!te for brains on both accounts"
The driver in question can handle it!!!!!!!! WTF does that mean what... we put F1 drivers on pedestals now and look up to idolise them cos what? they can drive, if 'he" could drive with common sense he would have not played god with the law, he broke the law.....its simple, he pays the price......just like anyone else, he is on the Vic Police radar.....maybe next year (if he still has a job) a driver will be appointed for him.
They already have "two laws", the ones for cops and lawmakers that are overlooked to "professional courtesy", and the same ones for everyone else, which are strictly enforced.
LOL correct.............and I reckon the police will be watching him closely now, not only in australia but elsewhere.........he wouldnt wanna play games in the arab world........he might find camel racing a new sport
I have this recollection re Gilles and Jody , sorry about the poor scan but the article is from the period magazine I had at the time. I can PM you the article for you to blow up if you like Image Unavailable, Please Login
Varsha during Austalian qualifying on SpeedTV said that Hami was doing donuts on public streets. Was he or not?
