Schumi was never railed on for his style here. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with Lando nor Daniel either (though I wouldn’t be caught dead in those outfits…but nobody’s asking me to wear them either). Companies pay LH, DR, & LN to promote their styles and brands. They are free to do whatever…I do, however, believe there is an “outrage double standard” when it comes to Hamilton’s off-track activities versus other drivers. The flexible yardstick gets a full workout…
Well like I said, back then when Schumacher wore ridiculous clothes at times, often these pictures would only surface a week after the GP when the event was covered in the magazines. Fchat wasn't nearly as active then. In fact if we go back in time to when the F1 section came to exist, we'd be lucky to get 10 replies for a GP weekend, no pictures of anything at all. By the time the section became more active is when F1 news started distributing heavily through the internet and rapid updates via journos on twitter etc. Again, Lando/Ric wore these outfits for a fashion show and I think you're the first guy to put them on here. So far you have 1 reply crying about the double standards against Lewis, 1 saying it's a photoshoot, 1 saying the outfits are ridiculous. Seems pretty even stevens so far, right? Again, lets wait and see if drivers wear this stuff in daily life and coming to the track. Sure as **** they deserve to get laughed at.
It was me explaining that name change is nothing unusual for a Brit, as it is for other nationals. Hamilton is not my favourite driver, I don't have one.
They outdid lulu. It’s horrid. Vanity fair ?why would they dress like clowns. Looks like it’s in good fun. I wouldn’t do it. What’s next?dress like women?
I never heard of HipHop, and don't know what it is. Not interested to know either. All I see is Verstappen driving a car with some talent and winning races. Like I said, I am not interested by the frills, the bells and whistles or the gossips around F1.
Soooo, he's just your favourite person to ever walk the Earth then? I'm trying to figure out why you spend so much time responding to any criticisms directed at him.
I always defend someone I feel is unjustly attacked; it's my nature. and I can't help it. I like an underdog, someone who is uncommon too. I don't follow the herd, and I don't need anyone to make my mind up. Does that answer your question?
hamilton in his Merc an underdog? Hahaha. Thanks for the laugh. There seems to be some serious cognitive dissonance going on.
I only put it here as a measuring stick against the story about Lewis adding his mother’s name to his last name and the outrage it created. Many similar threads/posts tend to pop up whenever he does something “outlandish” like that. There is no thread about Lando and Daniel (and I’m not advocating there should be, ftr). I don’t expect many to jump on my soapbox. He is the magnet for criticism and debate on this site.
Hamilton is an underdog in F1: different ethnic background than the majority of drivers, different culture, different outlook, different interests, different values, etc ... He has probably met hostility because of his origins, and had to assert himself from an early age. Why I suspect that? Because 2 of my children were in the same case, so I know how hard it can be for a kid of mixed race. Hamilton's arrival in F1 was not welcome by everyone: he didn't belong there, and some expressed it openly. When success came, some questioned it, attacked his personality, etc ... and it hasn't stopped. He is to my recollection the most criticised and hated F1 driver ever, and the number of threads and posts against him on this forum alone testify to that! So yes, I think he is still very much an underdog in F1, and why I took a liking to him.
I just want to point out, because many are unaware: William wasn’t always a Hamilton supporter. Far from it (he was team Rosberg). It was the daily doses of Hambashing that changed his position. When he mentions LH as the “underdog”, he’s viewing it from the position of F-Chat sentiment. (he doesn’t need my assistance, but his words match the position I’ve seen across 7+ years of this stuff)
Agreed. Hamilton is an outsider and different to the norm. While his style is not my cup of tea there is no denying is prodigious talent and incredible statistics to back it up. Problem is most 'haters' just cannot separate their dislike for the guy from his abilities once the helmet comes on. The people who continue to argue that Hamilton is not 'that' great really struggle to compartmentalize because by this stage his accomplishments are just so extensive that it goes way beyond the weak arguments used to discredit his legacy. Hater's gonna hate ( Hip Hop reference )
Image Unavailable, Please Login Russell Westbrook, father of 3… I wonder why those guys on this forum would say if they had interest in basketball. I’d not dress like that, but times and fashion have changed, specially in LA and amongst celebrities… it’s what it is but a lot on this forum don’t like it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I dont do social media..instagram..snap chat ..linkedin...facebook or whatever its called...Twitter..Tik Tok yada yada Couldnt care less who wears what or does whatever , but i am interested when they don their helmets and race.I find the Hambashing on here basically hilarious..but carry on if it makes ya feel better ...
One could say that tolerance and open-mindedness are not flourishing in sports in general yet. Compared to other sectors of society like business, the arts, fashion, entertainment, politics even, sports are rathe reactionary in that sense.
