They should build churches all over England named after him.
The title of this thread should be changed to : Lewis Hamilton hate cult It should have been closed a long time ago as almost all the posts have biased negativity or pure vitriol . It has become so ridiculous it is farcical. We have judges and jury’s dissecting every move and every comment he makes and of course the verdict is always unfavourable . One would think his detractors would be tired by now or run out of material but it keeps going and going . Makes for good comedy
Even while admitting his 'fault' wasn't really admitting his fault. It still contained elements of blaming russell. I honestly hope Russell puts him in his place remaining races and next year too.
Mercedes is in a win/win situation...i don't like Smugface (aka princess george) neither Sir Crapilton (aka Litle mermaid)...so all is good, they can keep on clashing...
Indeed posters will continue: Because they have no life (in particular, a small but loud group of haters who dominate this thread, while saying the same thing OVER and OVER) OR They're jealous OR They hate anyone that's really good (at anything) OR They're just so old they don't get the current generation of drivers and long for the days when drivers were real men and were killed all too often in racing accidents. OR They're naive enough to believe everything they read in PlanetF1/Instagram/X/etc or said by a Youtube "influencer" OR All of the above (or any combination of the above)
IMO, Hamilton has started to lose sharpness in his driving from 2021, and has been very erratic at times since.
Lewis was a clean driver in the Bottas years. Car out front, lapdog behind. Before that and after it, he gets himself in plenty of pointless crashes. The same stuff they accuse Verstappen off all the time, apparently we're not allowed to speak of when Lewis does it.
Have not changed my mind: I still do hope that he will score one, or two, or three wins more before he hangs up the gloves. I would really hate seing him go without a proof that he still has what it takes. That being said, he cannot handle pressure well; we saw this during the years he had Button as a team-mate, and during the Rosberg years too. He needs to be coaxed with kid gloves. I don't believe there is another title left in him, waiting. Those years are gone. Rgds
I think we have a winner! After all ... Hamilton can't help but prove this simple point, all by himself, over and over again

Sheesh not even the Hamilton supporters will come out and say he's looking mighty strong in Austin. Russell put together a good lap in the end, but otherwise Lewis has been miles ahead of his teammate today. Mercedes might be 3rd in outright pace, but they typically are better in the races. I suspect RBR will still be fastest in the race, but I think Mercedes could be a strong 2nd and a this a very good opportunity for Hamilton to maybe grab another victory.
I wonder why Russell isn't as good as he was last year. I thought he would assert himself as the leader at Mercedes after his win in Brazil and finishing 2 places ahead of Hamilton in the WDC. But this season, he is falling back, and is way behind.
I think Lewis was mentally broken after the 21 title was snatched from him. It took him18 months to recover, and only in the second half of this year has he really got back on top of his mental game.
It's a good question. Considering Russell joins a team that revolved around Hamilton for 5 years and George outperformed Lewis in 2022. I speculate the car has developed more towards Lewis' preferences than George. But I also believe Hamilton simply stepped up his game. The latter half of 2022 Hamilton was driving better so I suppose it isn't a big shock. The shock is how big the gap is.
The Mercedes still looked very porpoisey even at the start of this year. Remember they're behind development relative to other teams after persevering with the failed zero sidepod concept for so long. It's only been as they've developed throughout this season that they've finally started to get it more under control. I think that characteristic affects Hamilton a lot more than Russell, although I'm not sure why... he is older so perhaps it's the physical affects that are more brutal, or perhaps it's a feel/confidence thing at the limit? I'm sure the loss of the 2021 title was devastating but it seems to me that it's more of an issue with discomfort with this car than personal confidence problems. All the best, Andrew.
Hamilton disqualified for excessive wear under the car. Same with Leclerc. I wonder why their cars wore excessively and their teammates' cars passed inspection. All the best, Andrew.
From the BBC F1 website: “Russell's car was not checked by the scrutineers, incidentally, and nor was that of Leclerc's team-mate Carlos Sainz. The way FIA scrutineering works is that cars are checked at random. If a transgression is found, that does not mean that the other car in the team is then checked as well.”
