Loving it. This thread was already derailed quite a lot of times in the past ("is Hamilton THE goat or not") but up to now never on a discussion about tire life;)

Your driving style, the roads, the climate, and even proper tire rotation all play a big role in tire wear. It's true: if you buy the fastest road car out there, like a Lucid Air (let's use the 1/4 mile as a measure, and exclude the Rimac because Lucid Airs actually drive around me all the time now), you'll be burning through tires like crazy. Running a 1/4 mile in the 9s will do that to your rubber!

I never imagined I'd have to defend the fastest cars in the world on a Ferrari (F1) chat forum. People all of sudden are crying over the environment, sustainability, economy, and every single P&R reason I couldn't care less about. As Enzo said, a winning car is what makes it beautiful.

If you're on an F1 forum and you don't care who crosses the finish line first, and what cars are the fastest, you really need to check if you've lost the plot.

It's no surprise, though. When Hyundai is blowing cars out of the water, some folks are sucking on copium so hard they're living in an alternate universe. I talk to these reality-deniers every day!

All I know is that the arrival of electric cars on the market has been like putting a cat among the pigeons for sportscars.
When electric sedans can match the performances of vehicles 3 times more expensive, people start scratching their head !
All this down to instant torque ...

Yeah, but those electric cars resale value drops dramatically compared to cars costing 3x more than electric cars.

I bet Lewis could make a set of tires on an EV last twice as long as Russel could ;)

Instant EV torque is really an awesome thing.
Our i3, while miles away from Tesla Plaid power, immediately leaps ahead especially under 50mph. It's addictive and usable, if not necessary.
I'd love to have the i3s drivetrain in lightweight sports car, like my X1/9 or an Elise.

I agree with that. For me too much is too much.
But I am only an enthusiast with no commercial interest in F1.

Even the fast EV cars taper off at high speed right? Like 100 -150mph, 911 turbo would likely be faster.

Absolutely no comparison between an EV and The Turbo. The Turbo will do ludicrous 0-60 times over and over and over. It’s virtually unbreakable. An electric car will fry after about 45 minutes of intense driving, and be out of usable performance. Breaking, handling, and real world usability, the Turbo is unmatched in the automotive world.

Yes not a direct comparison. The 911 Turbo is so good everywhere, its not fair. The top speed of a Lucid Saphire is 207mph, which is surprising, but as you mentioned, Ev's not as robust.

Who does "ludicrous 0-60 times over and over" in real life ?

However I agree that the Turbo is a terrific piece of kit.

    I think comparing a 4-door saloon with a GT isn't fair.
They were designed with different goals. The architectures and dynamics are fundamentally different.
But wait when Porsche converts the 911 into an EV !! The Taycan isn't bad already.

Yes not a direct comparison, I was just pointing out some pros and cons of Ev's. Don't say Porsche converts 911 to Ev! Man that hurts my ears ! Lol Taycan is a beast, slower than Lucid but more dynamic chassis.

Porsche already has a hybrid 911 ready, so a 911 EV is next.
They are an intelligent company and don't put all their eggs in the same basket.

It would be an affordable sportscar; for the price of a top end SUV or saloon, in the MG tradition.
MG doesn't target the top end of the sportscar market, but MAZDA, BMW Z4, that sort of cars.

I don’t think I would categorize something that sells for double the price of an MX-5 as all that affordable. It’s kind of funny because the MX-5 is closer to a traditional MGA or MGB than this.

Today? Last I saw today was qualifying for the Hungarian GP. It sounds like you are referring to a few different past races in a way that doesn't make much sense.
