That's my thinking as well. I'm watching this rumor currently flying all over the internet currently.
If this is real I have to say, didn't see it coming. I get the feeling that Hamilton knows something about Ferrari's future that we don't in terms of development, and wants on the train while he can. OTOH, Italian media are known for putting out absurd rumors.
I sincerely hope this is NOT true. If it is, I have to reconsider if I want to cheer any longer for the Ferrari F1 team. Lets hope these rumors are only for putting more pressure on Carlos Sainz.
Not sure it’s about Ferrari future plans it’s all about a lifetime dream for him to drive for Ferrari.. seems to be real and this time not a rumour.
Whatever is going in the minds of Vasseur, Hamilton, and Elkan is not logic. Never say never, this is racing. BUT, Hamilton is a driver that seems past his prime. He's been in a decline since around 2019ish, and we've seen he doesn't cope well with a car that isn't a championship level car well like Alonso does. The smart money is on Leclerc outclassing him in equal cars like Rosberg did to Schumi, and it not reflecting well on Hamilton. Why now? That's the question. Mercedes beat Ferrari in the constructors, so the move seems illogical for Ham, unless he knows something about the futures of Ferrari and Mercedes that we don't know.
It is absolutely confirmed as per Sky Sports F1 Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/C2zTfKsNWgV/?hl=en I personally cannot wait to see what happens on this forum particularly, years and years of abuse and now he drives for us. The mental gymnastics that some of you are going to unveil will be of Olympic calibre and I've got the popcorn at the ready. Forza Ferrari, and all the success in the world to Charles and Lewis. Bring on '25 baby
At this time of his career, I believe that he is overrrated. I have always respected his achievement, Hamilton has an excellent resumé, but let's face it, his best years are behind him. He hasn't won a race since 2021, nor fought regularly for the lead since. He still has experience on his side, but that's not enough. Same for Alonso.
It’s being reported by sites that almost never report rumours. Seems to be true. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/hamilton-set-to-make-shock-switch-to-ferrari-in-f1-2025/10571247/
Doesn't make any sense to me: So lets assume Ferrari has a good car to challenge for the title, it'll be one of the three following scenarios: 1) Leclerc beats Lewis to the title; army of Lewis will take this achievement away and make it all about Lewis being cheated 2) Lewis beats Leclerc: Lewis leaves because he has #8, Ferrari left holding the bag and their star driver (Leclerc) they invested 100s of million in essentially becomes worthless 3) Lewis and Leclerc have so much infighting, Max sneaks underneath and takes the title. Ferrari stands their with their dick in their hand wondering how the **** this happened. This is also the most likely scenario btw.
That would be a complete U-turn on his part. Until the end of last year, he kept saying he wanted to end his career at Mercedes. Renouncing that to go to Ferrari would completely discredit him, IMO. But I also wonder who at Ferrari thinks it is a good idea to recruit him ?
Corrigeren della Sera is a very respected news source and not the gossip newspaper. I think they were the first and the source of the news. To my gut feeling I think Max will join Ferrari in 2026. Ciao Oscar
Agreed. IF he doesn't get his 8th with MercedesAMGF1 in 2024, he literally signed his 8th away with Ferrari. Maybe it's about money knowing Lewis won't get the amount he wants with MercedesAMGF1 past 2025. Look how long Lewis and Mercedes came to an agreement on his current contract.
Well....he already lives in Monaco, remember that Canadian bloke who regularly drove from Monaco to Maranello/Fiorano in the late 70's ? In a 308 of course ...
My guess is Hamilton has had a nasty falling out with Toto and Mercedes, and they got tired of him trashing their car and leadership, and told him to find greener pastures if he believed they existed for him. Something has happened within the team. Mercedes just beat Ferrari in the WCC, so this ain't about last years stats. Although it's possible, I don't see Hamilton beating Leclerc in equal cars. The development for this years cars and the car in 25' will be centered around Leclerc, so Ham will be on the backfoot from lights out in 25'. I don't see him coping well with Leclerc beating him, if that happens, and I don't see Ferrari tolerating Hams outbursts in the way Toto and Mercedes have over the years.
it will be interesting.... seems to be enough smoke for a fire, so I'll assume it's true. maybe he's the veteran leadership the team needs to get over the hump. Charles vs Lewis will be an interesting dynamic.
