IMHO, this smells of Toto and Mercedes having a falling out with Hamilton in the way Schumi did with Luca. I mean, you can see in public there is resentment and contempt between Ham and Toto.
Oh boy this is going to be hilarious! The FChat meltdown will be epic, and likely of a level never seen before. it’s clear to me that the only reason this is happening is because Mercedes want it to. I bet they have already told Lewis that his contract ends at the end of this season, and he’s taken the opportunity to give Ferrari a go. Can’t say I blame him. Why not?! Every F1 driver wants to drive for Ferrari at some point in their career.
Wow...this season with Hamilton possibly being his last at Mercedes is going to be a gong show if this is true. Loads of drama coming our way.
That's not strictly true. Jackie Stewart comes to mind; Ferrari wanted him, he met Enzo, and turned down the offer. Stewart prefered to try his luck with an untested team working out of a shed and won 3 titles. There are others too. Drivers go to Ferrari for various reasons, and it does't always works, but many left disappointed.
As a Hamilton fan and a lifelong Ferrari fan this is great news... for all those who have abused him on this forum for years. Well, were is my popcorn.
Luigi Amiltone;-) Some just won't be able to cope with this news, hilarious. I think Charles will be quicker but Luigi's experience will be useful.
Glad he followed my advice. I told him in 2019 to join Ferrari! This is brilliant news. As always there will be some unhappy tifosi, just like when Schumacher, Alonso, and Vettel joined the Scuderia. Anyone who has beaten Ferrari will have a hard time when they join us.
I do hope Fchat has invested in new servers because once the cultLH44 people invest this place vs Leclerc fans, they're going to need it. Not happy with the move but it won't be much difference. Max will still win. On the chance that Ferrari has a very good car, Charles and Lewis will take points of each other like crazy and Max will win even more.
Methinks there's more to this story than meets the eye. Hamilton just signed a contract with Mercedes less than six months ago. For him to suddenly sign with Ferrari means something massive changed within both. My take is that Hamilton is desperate for a championship car. He wants badly to be an 8X champion. I think Hamilton and his management decided to look at Ferrari during the off season, then tried to play hardball with Mercedes and Toto about clauses that allowed him to leave early, as well the offers he was getting from Ferrari, and Toto finally had it. He got tired of Hamilton publicly expressing his lack of faith in the team, and the latter decided "we're standing behind our technical department, so take the Ferrari offer". Maybe Hamilton will do well at Ferrari. Certainly if the car is to his liking, his talent is still there. However, I don't see Ferrari putting up with Hamilton's attitude if things don't go his way, and Leclerc is not going to roll over for him.
Jeez, like Sainz wasn’t difficult enough to manage as a no. 2, and now this?!! Team (Elkann) obviously looking to make a splash instead of focusing on fundamentals.
No mental gymnastics needed for me. I quite liked Hamilton when he started in 2007 at McLaren but that sympathy completely evaporated in his Mercedes years. To put it mildly, I just don't like the guy - irrespective if he is a Ferrari driver or not.
Couple of pointers worth noting: 1 - Historically & personally speaking he will be doing something his hero never got the chance to do. Which I guess means a lot to him. 2 - Big regulation change coming in 2026. So get in a year before - 2025 - to get comfortable, and be part of the development program. Something he did when he switched to Mercedes from McLaren. Everyone thought he was bonkers to do that, but, well, we all know what happened there ! Yes he is in the twilight of his career, and his performance last year was less than stellar, but you could argue his mind was already made up by then and he was simply treading water. Also his, er, questionable fashion sense will fit in nicely with Ferrari's other business ventures
Like any celebrity, unless they’ve committed some sort of violent crime or are morally bankrupt, I’m just going to enjoy their work. I’m not going to meet them, they are not my hero’s. I just enjoy the sport. Dress how you want, I don’t care man just don’t drive drunk and kill a family or abuse your spouse
