I've never seen this much rain! ....without the race being stopped.
I don't even like Hamilton... but he drove a great race, on the worst rain day I've ever seen.

If schumi had behaved like that the press would be up in arms! Lets not forget in his pre race interviews hamster said he would be "super aggressive" for example giving alonso no room and went on to repeatedly say he "would put him in the wall". To my eyes it looked like he was playing a stupid game accelerating hard and then slamming on with alonso nearly crashing such was his desperation not to pass him.bloody stupid driving- i think he wanted alonso penalised for passing him(just my 2 pence). Anyone who saw the tv footage cannot think it was a good example of what to do behind the safety car, its a surprise more people did not crash due to the massive concertina effect he was having throughout the field...it would have been stupid in the dry never mind the weather at fuji.

If it was Schumacher under these circumstances he would be just short of crucified. Even people like Keke Rosberg (A K A the most undeserving world champion EVER) would have come forward and say how people who put other drivers in jeopardy like this should be banned from the sport. Even Jack Villeneuve (a close runner up to Keke) would have come out of the Nastycar woods to claim his know it all opinion about how awful it was.
But since it is Bernie's "golden boy" probably nothing would happen.
Someone here made a comparison with highway rules and about the guy behind being in fault in case of accident. Yeah, and it is illegal to toll your car with anyone inside.
The picture of Hamilton hanging from the crane is like the epitome of the 2007 season.

    Amen.

This season will be the most undeserved win period, which is a real shame because the guy has ability. Bernie and his obvious sncking up to the kid for the English dollars has ruined the sport I think, more than the McLaren cheating drama.

Get over the fact that the tickets state that any images/video must be for personal private use. This video clearly is not. Ergo it violates F1 rules, ergo it was removed.

    It couldn't be more simple.

It was for personal use. The author just shared it on a site designed for people sharing their homemade videos. At indy you could buy pictures of the cars from the friday practice on saturday morning in different sizes. I am talking about professional photographs sold for pretty penny on a picknick table on the street right infront one of the entrances. It happened every day of every race weekend every year since 2000. No one ever said a word. But now all of a sudden it is a violation of whatever because it just doesn't suit Bernie's master plan. The first time I said this it was just plain sarcasm. But the more I think about it.......
If Bernie owns the TV rights for F1 and wants to fix the game the only way to go about it is to first make sure that there would not be any evidence showing him fixing the game. What is next? They are going to search us on the gates and take away any cameras?
This is getting ridiculous. No one made one penny profit from that video. Even if Bernie claims that he owns ALL the viewing rights to F1 he can't stop people from seeing what they see. Or can he?

IMO you've hit the point. I don't think anybody's questioning FIA's right to copyright, despite the quite rude and ill mannered comments from some people here (some people just have to be the loudest, can't stop for a minute to see the wider picture). Anyway, the point is that there's always been loads of clips on utube and other places and the FIA clamp down from time-to-time. Utube's hardly broadcast quality so getting the clips off is probably not an ultra-top priority for them most of the time.

However... in this case they were onto it like a shot, not even their own footage -- why so hasty in this specific case? The wise guys can make all the loud posts they want to about "legal this and google that" but it smells fishy to me.

I wish Webber had of collided with Hamilton taking a wheel off, not because it was Hamilton but because all the F1 drivers are treating the SC as an opportunity to cause chaos behind them

The Schu got his come-uppance at Monaco when JPM slammed into him and this guy should get a back-of-the-field penalty for causing the accident

You should feel SAFE behind the SC but these guys are using it as a weapon to destroy the chances of the guys behind and Hamilton was brake testing at every chance he got !!!

He will be the most undeserving WDC since JV or DH

He did do good but remember that he had the virtue of being in front and did not have spray in his face for most of the race. The other guys had to drive with virtually no visibility.

maybe Webber should have kept a little more distance between himself and Hami, if he really thought Hami's driving was out of line......either way, the accident was 100% Vettel's fault for watching Hami and not the driver directly in front of him.

thats a silly comment about an underserving WDC............typical "sheep" mentality.

Sure, but that doesn't change the facts which are.

    1. There was an accident where several people were doing questionable things.
    2. Blaming it on Hamilton and stripping him of 10 points give Kimi a shot at the WDC.

    :)

hey, it would at least make the last 2 races that much more interesting......

completely off topic, I felt really bad for Massa having to give his podium spot to Kimmi..... i know teams orders are for the greater good of the team, but man that must have sucked for him after driving his butt off and making up for his countless mistakes.....poor little guy.

Lets forget the names and call them drivers x, y ,z.
X deviates and slows and causes z to crash into y.
    X needs to be penalised.

Taking all points is over the top.
10 spots next race is fair . LH needs to apologize for F,ing Vettels and Webbers race.
If Webber had indeed chosen a different reaction he may have taken LH out instead and Vettel may have won.
I agree that "brake checking" needs to be banned. Let the engineers figure out a solution to cold cf brakes or if they cant; iron worked for years. I wont notice the .1's secs a lap in favor of a better race.

I have to disagree... If the person who took the video doesn't make ANY money, you know “profit / personal gain” from the video, then they can share it with anyone they please! Again this is just Bernie's implementing his crap again on the tickets!

He has been fully cleared 10 Min's ago:) He did make the statement before the FIA decision that if this is how F1 is he doesnt think he wants to be part of it. Damned shame for F1 if he left the sport IMO.

Your entire logic is predicated on the assumption that X CAUSED the accident. This discussion is about whether he caused the accident. Causation is not so simple.

As far as I'm concerned (and the actual rules seem to support this), the driver in the lead is given a lot of leeway on how they should lead the group. This is intentional, allowing the driver to adjust to any condition of the track. This is exactly what driver "x" said he was doing - warming his brakes and tires in the middle of a monsoon.
Whether he violated the spirit of the rules is another question entirely, and I'm not certain if that is even relevant. There is a fair amount of bending of the rules in F1 that is allowed, even if it violates the spirit of the rule.
Why wasn't Webber running further behind Hamilton? Was there a reason he was so close? I think it's possible that he was trying to exert pressure to cause Hamilton to make an error. Who is "racing" during a SC in that instance?

    your psychic are you ?
you havent written that as an opinion, youve made a statement.

look the thing is we arent talking about a well established driver, LH is a rookie in his 1st yr in F1 and the conditions were unprecedented - ie we havent seen that am ount of rain at a gp for a while.

i would suggest that you try and find the video again and watch it a few times
he didnt swerve, he didnt suddenly and unexpectedly brake heavily
he took a different line to the SC and was forced to brake a bit more than expected (but not in a panicked fashion) to save going past it.

I don't think so, certainly not in Britain. If something is subject to copyright you can let friends see/hear it but you can't copy it nor can you use it in a public performance. I guess posting it on YouTube is deemed to be a public performance. If it were perfectly legal to have it on YouTube why would the owners of YouTube pull it? Don't tell me you think Bernie and/or the FIA control the internet too! ;)
