Help i am trying to remove the hand brake cable on my Dino. I take it that the rear end comes off as in picture as the other end of the cable has a soldered ball on the end, i have undone the nut but it wont budge out of the fitting, don't want to damage it any ideas?

GP - I have removed, and just replaced my cable. The nut that you refer to draws a special bolt down on the cable to create a clamping effect. Upon removing the nut, you have to tap the threaded end up to loosen the grip on the cable. Keep the nut on and turn it on the threads as much as possible while leaving a small space for the bolt to move upwards. Tap the nut (rather than tapping the threaded end of the bolt thereby avoiding ruining the threads), and as the bolt moves, loosen the nut a little to add more space. Hope this makes sense.

To remove the cable, depending on whether your passenger-compartment end is standard, you should be able to pull the cable towards the front of the car to remove. It may ultimately be easier to loosen the entire handbrake mechanism to remove the cable (by pulling the entire handbrake mechanism, with the cable, towards the front of the car). To remove the mechanism, you must remove 2 bolts, and loosen the 3rd. The bolt on the right side (yours is a right-hand drive model, yes?) towards the rear has a slot that once loosened will allow the mechanism to be removed without fully removing this 3rd bolt.

This is not easy. The primary difficulty is that the rear end of the cable is kinked by the clamping bolt.

    Have fun.
