Hey NE crew -- what's going on...:)

Does anyone know of a good place near Wellesley, MA where I could get my 360 hand-washed at around 8am tomorrow morning?

    Thanks for any tips/suggestions...!

there's an outfit down 135 on the other side of natick center. i do not recall the name of it. it's on the south side of the street, across from stuff like Barber Bros. and a chinese restaurant (Hong Kong?). my mother had her car detailed there once. i don't think it's a "drive in while you wait" outfit though.

you might check with the Scrub-a-Dub on route 9 in natick at Oak St. they keep a tent set up on the property where they do something to cars - but i don't know if that includes hand-washing (as opposed to other detailing work that's done by hand).

if you find something, let us know!

AVOID SCRUB A DUB!! They tried to jump in my lowly daily VR4 to move it a few inches, and grinded the gears. I practically ran over and forced the non english speaking illegal out of my car.

If you are near rt.9, or the Ferrari dealer on rt.16, those are ur best bets. Wash is $30 at dealer, 1203 Washington St. I like getting a carwash a few inches from an Enzo or Daytona.

Also, at the Atrium mall, I really like the parking garage detail service. It's run by a stand up guy, and the only wash the finest cars there while the owners shop in the mall. $20 bucks for basic. Always tip them, they are that good.

I would really reccomend trying to wash the car yourself in the proper method (2 bucket method) as it helps a lot cutting down on swirls and scratches. Most of, if not all of the hand wash places do not wash correctly to protect your paint since they need to get as many cars through as possible to make money. If you had to use a place to wash, I would almost reccomend a touchless car wash over a hand wash facility. Check out www.autopia.org for more thorough instructions on properly washing your car.

Agreed, some places do it as a courtesy and don't rush. Lots of water and clean squeeges. Swirls are a risk at your common dealership, but not all of course.

Great suggestions everyone -- thanks so much for the input.

Since I was in a rush this morning and needed it done @ 8am, I ended up using the Scrub-a-Dub self-service booth on Market St. in Brighton. 15 minutes, $9.50, and slightly soggy shoes, but I was quite impressed with the results (a liberal coating of hot wax helped, assuming I haven't ruined my paint).

The only thing they're missing is a vending machine for proper drying cloths (they should sell the synthetic rubber chamois...), as their $0.75 "universal drycloth" (i.e. paper towel) doesn't quite cut it.
