    Hey Guys

Working on getting my major done - started to reinstall the rear arms/hubs/brakes/etc.. Ran into a small issue (maybe?)... I am trying to get the handbrake to sit correctly, but only one side of the shoe moves - pls see the video below...

Is this normal? Will it force both sides to move once the brake rotor is on? Or should both sides be moving now? The non moving side does want to move at all - even when I try to move it by hand it stays pretty firm...

    Suggestions??

The two handbrake shoes are floating and self-centring in operation so they will work properly once inside the drum. One shoe will usually touch the drum first then the "reaction" will move the other shoe towards the drum. Your "frozen" shoe will certainly move if you hit it with a rubber mallet or lever it out. Each shoe has a pin through it with a spring that holds the shoe in place but allows its movement (to some extent), with some friction resistance, up-down left-right.
