I have to say, that this has to be the fastest that I have seen someone take this track thru some of those turns.

at the end you can see that he is proud that he NAILED it...

man on man!!! that gets your blood going!@1

Has been around for a while, but still awesome. There is a similar video of Derek Bell in a 956 doing the same thing and being faster of course.

Using GT4 and Forza I did my own drive in a M3 GT and a 960 for comparison. I managed to beat Stuck, but not Bell. :)

The fastest I have managed at the ring on gt4 is 5:48... using a Pescarolo... with 980hp.... I dont think I would have the "attachments" to try a "hot lap" at the ring in real life...

I did a ride in a 93 Porsche 911 super sport at the ring in 1999, and that was amazing... especially since parts of the track were still wet.. it was in late April, and in the morning it was covered in mist, but by 2 pm most of the mist had burned off.. to a mild partly cloudy day but with pretty strong wind.. so I think the fastet we went was on the Flanzgarten... main strait was 130mph and only just got there before we had to slow for the ticket booth cones...I sadly did not get to drive, but was offered and was afraid of crashing my friends car!

If you have GT4 you can use Stuck's car. The M3 GT is in there and try to mimick his lap. Although in the video Stuck actually also drove an abbreviated version of today's F1 Nuerburgring track. He exits and reenters the Nuerburgring Nordschleife at the beginning and end of its s/f line straight (where the pits were). You would have to discount that time.

One day I'll make it to the Ring and do a lap in whatever crappy rental car I'll have at the time. Hopefully nobody will torpedo me from behind.

Biggest danger at the 'Ring are the motorcycles that want to show off how fast they can accelerate in a straight line...

Many of my laps in my company audi diesel were ruined by bikes...

overtaking me on the straights and me working my way past them again in the twisty sections...

they overtaking me on the next straight again...

that blows as those guys REALLY can't ride a bike...

If you want to go fast on your bike in a straight lkine, take the Autobahn, NOT the Ring!

Most accidents at the 'ring are with bikers that plant themselves in the guardrails...

Here some frame grabs off the video I put together:

    - Derek Bell in the 956 leaving the pits at the Ring
    - the 962 in Forza at the Ring
    - catching some air in the 962, easy to do at the Ring
    - comparison of Bell vs Forza at the end of the s/f line
    - M3 GT in GT4 at the Ring
    - comparison of Stuck vs GT4

Not counting the F1 part of the track, Stuck did a 6:49 (I managed a 6:39) and Bell did a 6:41 (I only did a 7:42). So Bell did the fastest lap, although his lap was merely a warmup lap with an onboard camera. During the video Ickx literally flies by him as if Bell was glued to the ground.

I dont know where my copy of in car 956 is ... but the Nurburgring is amazing... I have not gotten to the 956 on Xbox... but will work on it... I just like the modeling and handeling on GT4 so much better... I wish Ferrari would get their heads out of their ass and alow GT4 to have Ferrari's.... they just think being tied in with Microsoft is so much better?!

on GT4 - the absolute fastest I have is using the Toyota GT1... with about 1047HP... I can get it to 239mph on the Flanzgarten... it even makes you hold your breath... but I cant imagine the compressions that Stuck was going thru... in a road going Porsche it was a bumpy track, and you could really feel the camber in the road, and that was a 50-80 mph... I think our lap was over 12 min.... and the bikes are a real pain inthe ass.. there had been an accident the day before.... you could see the new armco... and the old stuff right behind it...and there was even parts that still had the old catch fencing on the outside of the armco...just before you go up to the carousell...

Anyway I can run the Nurburgring on GT4 for hours... it takes real concentraion to keep it on the track and to keep turning consistent lap times... I ran the 4 hour race.... and when I was done... I felt like my hand was gonna fall off!

Actually Forza has the Porsche 962, not the 956, but they're very similar.

Yes it would be nice if Ferrari would not have an exclusive license with Microsoft. OTOH it would also be nice if Sony wouldn't have an exclusive license for forcefeedback (which is why the GT4 steering wheel feels better than the Speedster wheel on the XBox) or if Sony wouldn't have the exclusive license for F1, but I digress.

I had sweaty palms after laps with either game. And those are just games. What Stuck and Bell and all the others did is unreal. What's also amazing about the Stuck video is the incredible noise level inside the car. Like you're in the middle of a trainwreck all the time. Compare that to the almost civilized Porsche. Not sure Bell spoke his comments while driving or after he did his lap, but there is not much noise level at all.

Bell taped his comments over the video.... I asked him about that once, and he said that most of the time the helmet microphone would only pick up static or his breathing... or he would forget to make comments... I think he talks thru Brans Hatch.... and maybe Fuji... I also asked him about old Spa... and he said that they tried to get permisson to close off the old course roads, but they were in the process of construction at Burnville, and it would not be safe...No that would have been Fantastic!!! Old Spa is probabbly the real test of men from the boys! not only was it long but really fast!!!
