Well we made another lap around the calendar; let me wish all associated with this fun forum a happy, safe, healthy holiday season. After all the jokes, spats, laughs etc, this is still my favorite place to hang out.
    Happy Holidays!

Same to you and all on the forum. But why so P.C.? You can say Merry Christmas, unless I'm
mistaken we are celebrating the birth of Christ on the 25th. Hence Christ-Mas.
Have a good one all the best to you and yours.

Best wishes to all here, no matter where you are! Wolfgang thanks for starting this thread!

I picked this up last week as a nice little Christmas present to myself! 2010 Abarth 500!! What a nice little 'rocket'!

Once the break-in is complete, and the new G-Tech ECU is added, I shall take it to the "Ring" once the weather is supportive in the spring. If you see me around Europe say 'Hallo' - Cheers to all DF1, David.

    Thanks Steve.

And nice ride DF1. We don't get those in the States yet but since Santa gave Chrysler to Fiat we might get them next year... ;)

    Thanks m8!

This was one of the best days this year for me (if not simply the best). Track, car and instructor all to myself for an entire day. Hard to top that for 2010, but I'll try. :)

There are too many people on this site to mention that make each season a pleasure. Some I owe a blast around Calder Park, some I could owe a case of Stella's and some I just love to argue with, but I would like to wish all of you the best this festive season regardless of your faith.

Love to all, and I sure look forward to 2010

    Merry Perihelion, everyone!

(For those in the snow, consider:
The earth is approaching it's closest point to the sun (on Jan 3rd), making this the hottest time of the year, ...
... averaged over the entire earth.)

Oh, and a thought for the females: diamonds are carbon, like coal.
And Santa only brings lumps of coal to the *naughty* girls. ;)

Actually one of my fav parts of X-mas is the fact that afterwards the days finally get longer again.

    Clever.

The winter solstice was Dec 21st (yesterday). That relates to the axis of tilt relative to the solar orbit. The days get longer (northern hemisphere) from there. In the southern hemisphere, the days start getting shorter.

Perihelion is the closest point to the sun in earth's elliptical orbit around the big fusion ball. That's on Jan 3rd. (midnight UT).

Since perihelion is in the northern hemisphere winter, and aphelion (furthest from the sun) is in northern summer, that means that the seasons are less extreme in the northern hemisphere than in the southern. (Hotter summers, colder winters in the southern hemisphere.)

That I disagree with. Not that I know much about the weather in the southern hemisphere, but just based on my limited sampling, the summers on the Northern hemisphere seem to be getting hotter each year and the winters colder each year. Maybe it is just me getting older...

BTW: Obama returned from the global warming summit to find DC shut down by a snowfall that topped the record set in 1932. :p

At least you guys get the Gulf stream.
