With the holidays fast approaching, I just wanted to say thank you to the honest, hardworking and exceptional Ferrari mechanics out there, especially those who are on this board!

I recently got my Mondial back from its belt service (plus fix anything you can find). The difference between how my car runs now, and how it did right after its last major, is astounding. My mechanic took the time to tune my car perfectly. The engine now runs like a sewing machine, idles better than my Honda and has power all over the place. This to say nothing of the other work he did. This got me thinking, I know a lot of us like to do the work ourselves, but there is something to be said for giving your car to a true master and letting him do his thing. You need to have that kind of global understanding of the vehicle architecture through familiarity and training to be able to do what he did to my car. I am grateful to both my mechanic and the Dave Helms, Tony at Algar and Rifledrivers of the world who do their work on such a high level and are training the next generation of mechanics to insure our cars continue to run as Ferrari intended well into the coming decades.

My sincerest thanks and have a wonderful holiday.

Didn't your car have a fresh belt service on the car when you bought it? Did it require another one recently?

I also just got my Mondial t back from getting all the odds and ends brought back to working order. Michael, my mechanic, is a pleasure to work with and just a great car buff in general. He and all of the people at RUF here in Dallas are great and I agree there is not much that compares to having my 89 run perfectly. It is a small group of great people Merry christmas to all the RUF guys and my mechanic Michael and Hans Hoffman.

Yes. It had one fairly recently. It had the belt service in October of 2006, I got the car in 2008, but it had only been maybe 200 miles since the last belt service as I recall. I think right before I got the car I may have posted that it had been just done, but the records subsequently revealed otherwise.

I am a three year belt guy.

Not to get too off topic here...

Let's keep up the good cheer :)

I want to give a special thank you this holiday season to those top drawer Ferrari mechanics who have helped me endlessly.

    Mike Pechstein (my primary mechanic)
    Tony at Algar
    Dave Helms
    Rifledriver

You guys are the best...Have a great holiday

    ;)

Don't go reading anything into that. Others opinions may differ, but my car has been very reliable and the mechanics who have serviced her since have all said she was well taken care of. Black Horse also warranteed my car and actually stood by it and did thousands of dollars in work to make my car right--after I bought her and at their cost.

I can't comment on their workmanship beyond that, because I have never used them for anything.

An excellent show of appreciation, Joe. Hope you don't mind the partial QUOTE :)

As for my guy, Eugenio - - I call him my "adopted son" - - he's spiritually, a family member.

Thanks, E :):):), and happy holidays to all:)

    Cheers,

    Hank

Joe, you are right about the enjoyment of taking your car to an expert in a clean shop and watching them do their magic. Kudos and Happy Holidays to our guys at Competizione and Sport in MD. Hank is right they do feel like family.
