What is the traditional start date to the Jewish year cycle? What happened year 1 or 0? No one here seems to know.

Many believe the second coming is today or tomorrow. Right or wrong, see http://www.harvestreno.org/messageVideo.asp?id=132&quality=medium and pay attention to the justifications of the dates that are explained. Believer or not, listen to this and you may not get any sleep for a few days!

Ralf: I would be VERY interested to see your reply to this one.

I am not religious. I am just a cork in the ocean, when it comes to acts of g/d.

Why are you trying to derail a thread about Judaism on a high holiday with this crap?

I'm not either, but do find some things interesting that at times are worthy of sharing. That's all :) I'm the last person to go Holy Roller on anyone.

One of my life's most interesting evenings was being invited to a Jewish high school friend's family get together on New Years (Rosh Hashana) in Palos Verdes, CA.
They took a lot of time to share with me various traditions and why it was important to remember them.

It was more than 3 decades ago, but a fond memory. Happy holiday to all.

It is possible, though unlikely, that he is trying to answer my question.

    But I doubt it.

Anyway, my question still stands. Why is this the new year date???

Quite obviously to people raised christian as I was, year zero or year one was the birth of Christ. What happened 5000 or so years ago to set this as the day for the Jewish new year? No one here, including the Jews! (Who admittedly are not up on their catechism.), can tell me.

Ok I just watched that again.

The part where she says she is "off the meds" was pretty fraking funny. It sets the mood for the video.

(That they are full of it.)
