    First time poster and as of a day ago, first time Ferrari owner (458 Spider). Unreal car. I have uploaded 10Gb of music onto the 30Gb HDD. I go through the right TFT menu, select the HDD, but - no music appears. None plays.

    Took it to a Ferrari dealer yesterday, they tried, same problem. They said maybe you have to wait a long time for the HDD to 'load.' I've checked the menu of the HDD and it confirms that 10Gb is currently used.

    Can anyone offer any advice on how ginger my music playing please? Btw, radio/CD works fine.

    Ps- I'm still nervous driving this thing!

    MP3s? I had to convert from Apple AAC to get it to work.

    Yes should have said, I made sure the files were MP3, nitrate, size etc all compatible. No files appear on the screen. I watched the files upload - that was as much fun as a cup of cold sick. Very slow upload speed.

    Try a few files first. Make sure you don’t overload the file system... since you have uploaded is there a place to reset the system to see if it can recover them....?

    Thanks for your reply. I did try upload 1 or 2 songs, but still got no playback. Those couple songs didn't even appear on Tft screen. So I may have to investigate HDD reset somehow....

    Yes I downloaded and read that. I asked the local F dealer and he confirmed that manual was not given to owners. So it seems trying to do a 'hard reset' on the HDD may be the only way.
    I bet that means disconnecting the battery :-/ New F car owner so I'm a bit hesitant...

    Right Ive gone over the HDD:
    - songs have been imported to HDD as MP3 format
    - HDD space shows 10gb used, 20gb remaining

    So the song files are on the HDD.

    No songs appear when going to HDD playback.

    When you search for music eg by artist, all the songs/albums etc appear

    So it's the playback that's not working as there's nothing to select on that screen.

    Any help? Any?? [emoji15]

    There are software updates for the infotainment system on the 458. Did you have the dealership make sure that it has the latest software installed?

    Great idea thanks. I'll check with F dealer this week. The car had its service August 2017, but I'll double check on the updates. Will post if this fixes issue. [emoji106]

    I'm not near the car now, but when I 'manage' the HDD files I can see artists and songs etc and delete them. But that sub menu doesn't do playback. When you load a song to play, it says to wait but no songs appear. That screen which would allow to play songs - like it does in CD mode - doesn't load any songs. I'm stumped?

    I can only bring up artists songs etc if I go hdd-my files-my music-manage/import/delete music. Then the songs appear but won't play.

    I had the same problem and it all of a sudden started working. I did have the annual service done, so don't know if they did an update.

    Ok. Consistent behavior with regard to playback.

    Gotta be bad software!

    Likely a reflash of the code or an update is needed....

    I got it to work on my 13 Italia years ago but it was all hit and miss, no reason.

    For my 15 spider I used the Bovee bluetooth adapter and it works perfectly to pull songs from my iphone.

    Ok just posting the result - I ha the software update completed. The service department 'fiddled' around with the infotainment unit and the HDD IS working. So all songs play and the sound is very good.

    I believe the software update was the main reason as I'm reasonably computer/stereo savvy and I couldn't get it working.

    Hope this helps others - it's worth getting the HDD working as 30 gigs is a lot of music.

    Now, clear stone chip protection and spoiler rash guard next. Oh and some driving instruction on this beast!

    That stupid Toshiba hard drive on the NIT has ALL the software on it and if the drive goes bad your whole raid gets hosed.
