    my1990 mondial t has become hard almost impossible to get into 1st gear stationary or idling or moving if i force it it goes but when i set off its actually gone into 3rd,,,,[so its not clutch drag].i took the gate off to have a look and it will go into 1st gear now,[its as if the gear lever wants to be over to the left more but the gate is restricting it],,i see there an adjuster on the linkage but not sure what its for anyone any ideas

    Yes, adjust link but i;d suggest gettign a ro to do it if you have done it before. Also, check your shifter bushings because if they are old you might want to get the new MUCH better than stock from Fchatter Verell (unobtanium). These cars are old and so things like this are due for replaement. Normal stuff really.
