I dont know, but if I ever trade my 308 for a newer Fcar, I'm going to put the loudest freaking exhaust I can on it (OST-X or Tubi) and sit at a stop light revving my engine beside all the harleys. I hope I knock them off thier bikes.

Sorry, that whole "loud pipes save lives" gets to me.

Oh, I ride a Beemer. And while in Denver, my home in NW Tenn.

I own 4 Harleys. One in Florida and 3 in Nashville. Been riding since 1972 or so. I had a bunch of Honda's and one Ducati and I've owned 8 or 9 different Harley's. I got my first one in 1986. There are way more Harley's on the road now and that is why I think all the loud pipes piss off people. Back in '86 they made something like 38k bikes a year and now they make 400k+ a year. That's a lot more loud pipes. Harley is trying to get riders to go quiet in their marketing. They realize it is a problem.
Most beemers are quiet as they speed past me at 100mph going down the interstate. I guess that makes them more responsible.

I have owned several motorcycles with my Ferrari's over the years, including a Harley FatBoy. My Boxer now shares garage space with my American Ironhorse LSC chopper...

Yeah, I guess I was harsh when I responded last night. When I was a teenager (in TN) my friends dad had a harley and it was cool. They were "rarer" back then, not as rare as a Ferrari, but you saw more Hondas, Kawis, Suzukis and Yamahas on the road. And all of them had "stock" exhaust, even the first "ninja's" (the generic word for crotch rocket back then) had stock exhaust.

The thing that gets me are the harley riders who arent respectful of others. I think I posted before about a harley rider when I was in my Porsche Boxster. It was so loud at a stop light that I literally couldnt think. I sped away from him, getting in front of him just so I could hear my radio and HE flipped ME off??!!?? Heck, I wasnt even trying to run him off the road. Those are the guys that give Harley's a bad name.
As far as Beemers, our crowd isnt much better. I know some beemer guys who'll drink then get on thier bikes. Supposedly "more mature", but nope, I dont think so. Quiet and fast but a drunken missle isnt exactly a welcome sight on the road.

1 Ferrari 88.5 328 GTS Red/Tan (as it should be), 2 Harleys both CVO's (Custom Vehicle Operations Dept) 99 FXR3, Green; 00 Screamin Eagle Road Glide, Triple Red and 1 BMW 98 K1200RS Checkerboard. AND loud pipes do save lives, how many times driving your cage have you known where the bike was even if they were in your blind spot! I have a Staintune exhaust system on the BMW but it is not loud (baffle is in) and I notice how many cars traveling beside me don't know I'm there. Extra, extra careful on the Beemer just use a lower gear (louder) on the Harley's. Of course YMMV!

No worries James. I understand what you were saying. I can't stand a guy who is at a red light and is giving hell just sitting there. Back in the old days the Harleys would kind of skip idle at the light. You may not know what I'm talking about. Anyway they were quiet until the guy jumped on it. I'm glad you put the stuff in there about the beemers. When I rode the Duck I rode with some Beemer guys and we tested them out for top speed, I mean wide open.

My Street Glide is at C&S Harley Davidson in Nashville right now. It came with the new Big 96 motor. I'm having it upgraded to the Screamin Eagle 110 motor because Harley hasn't done a CVO Street Glide. I really just want the motor and don't care much for the CVO cosmetics anyway.

I had one but the 916 is only comfortable at speed. It is not a cruiser. One time me and a couple of guys rode it to Atlanta, road Atlanta, to watch a motorcycle race and got to take a lap or two on the track. That quickly got out of hand. There were a lot of bikes and they all were not doing a parade lap or two. It is gone now and even though it was beautiful and fast it was not used much.
