Where can I get one for the 348, what type of modifications to get it installed?
Will have to be custom made.............PROPERLY!! FBB has one. So wait till he chimes in here and see what he has to say and maybe even give you some tips on how to make/incorporate one. He actually runs with a roll cage, so it is a little easier for him to have one in his car.
Mine is mounted on the stock shoulder belt mounts. I did not have the mouse motors, so it was easy. If you have mouse motors, there may still be those brackets under your upholstery. I have pics elsewhere. Check 348 interior mods thread. If a search doesn't show them, I'll repost.
yea, have the stupid mouse motors, so the shoulder belt mounted in the center. I have the lap belts replaced with the seats, and would like to get the shoulder ones done also, but need a secure bar for it. Seen someone else also run those from behind the seat, but not sure that is a good idea.
It all depends on your level of cutting. You can run eye bolts reinforced via the rear bulkhead and no harness bar challenge style. This will require 2 holes be drilled through the facia and the bulkhead a plate welded and threaded for the eye bolts. This is a really good clean way to do it. Second you can make a harness bar that either goes from euro shoulder belt location to euro shoulder belt anchor location like plugzit. This is very clean but the bar takes up space. 3rd you can fab a minibar from the central shoulder belt location for mouse belt cars to the euro shoulder belt location. This works if you are the only one on the track. 4th you can tie in straight accross b-piller to b-piller which will require welding two threaded plates and fabricating a bar. All methos require some cutting of upholstry. Method 1 is the nicest and quickest with minimum cutting just two holes and minimum fabrication. It is proven and challenge tested in concept. You could even find a guy like me with tan/black interior who no longer uses the center section of the rear cover. You can then keep your original one and use mine and drill holes it in. I could also be convinced to cut you a plate and thread it for your welder to weld it in. I also have tons of hardware aka eyebolts etc... We racers collect stuff. Hey if you come to so cal I'll even weld it in for you. I don't use a harness bar. My harness bar is integrated into my full welded-in cage which I designed, bent, and welded myself. This is a b-piller to b-piller design I made in my Z06 for occasional trackdays Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is the area directly behind the seats. You can see the welded plate and two threaded holes for the eye bolts. This is the place to weld this because it is the strongest piece and thickest piece of metal here. I would also mount the holes 3 inches apart not the old school 5-8inches apart because you may want to use a HANS device in the future. Well hope these pictures help. Image Unavailable, Please Login
DurandDurand who did your cage and the eyebolts? Looks geat! Thanks FBB, need your help with dash removal on another thread.
The half roll cage is the Ferrari factory option. The harness fitting was organised by the Ferrari dealership I purchased the vehicle from. Just trying to show the positioning and how clean it can look.
Heres factory installed eyebolts on my 348 CH. I think just were FBB has on his. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes Richard and notice the spead! This is no good for HANS head and neck retraints which were not available to us really in 1991 or so. Now everyone drives with them so the spacing needs to be 3 inches. Thus my comments on how the fabrication should change for modern times.
Looking for harness bar ideas for 355. Prefer a bolt up solution from seat belt mount to seat belt mount.
