I saw a red 1 & a yellow 1 on the road, cant wait to drive 1
My bosses brother has one. I drove it, it's a monster. Tons of torque. he actually has ran it as well. 11.60's and 11.70's at the track. Quite a car for 70 grand....
Saw a black one getting ClearShield installed at the RUF Auto Centre the other day.
Alas, I did not get a ride in it.
With a few mods and drag slicks these cars will be in the 10's. I would really like to try one out.
C6 Z06 is a great car...Is it a Ferrari ? Nope ut a dam fine sports car all the same!
A guy I know just took delivery, the car is a monster.
I saw one on my way to AC last weekend so they must be starting to come out.
is it @ 70k?
Sticker for a decently loaded car is around $70k. They can be had on ebay for $3-4k over right now....surely the premium will disappear soon.
Been reading some info on dyno runs at Lou Gigliotti's LG Motorsports. Stock is about 450 HP at the wheels.
With the addition of their headers only, with cats, about 490 rwhp.
Here is a video clip of that dyno run.
With software mods, cam and head porting these cars could be pushing close to 600 rwhp which is close to 700 hp at the crank.
Not bad for street a legal pushrod American V8 based on a 50 year old design.
Not bad.....,thats outstanding!!!
Oh and thanks for the link. Thats a neat promo spot.
I agree, kind of makes you want to go get a Z06 right now doesn't it?
Gen III and 4 Ls-series v8's have nothing in common in with the original SBC. It is a throughly modern/new design so it isn't really based on a 50 year old design.
They may have pushrods, but these engines are modern world-class v8's without a doubt.
Gotta love the value of this car.
Yeah right......I guess you should call General Motors and tell them to cancel the 50th anniversary celebration of their small block V8 scheduled for October 28th.
i get to see alot of these as i live a couple miles from gm world headquaters but have you guys seen the Lingenfelter ZO6 800HP
Ill take that TR over a zo6 anyday
I'll take the hooter chick over the cars.
He actually is 100% correct....
The celebration is for small block architecture.
The small block has gone through 3 changes,
the LS series was a total revamping.
Do you guys not understand the term "based on"? My first small block was a 265 back in the 60's, and my latest is putting out over 700 hp. Yeah, I've been around small blocks for 40 years.
The latest engine is considered by GM to be the "4th generation" of the small block, it still has 4.4 " bore centers.
Repeat after me....."based on".
I guess you don't understand? Based on, but NOT ONE PART is shared.
So the design is similar....but every single part has been changed from the
last Gen SB engine design. If you don't belive me, try looking it up. That was what the other guy was refering to. Up to Gen 3 many parts were shared. Gen 4 as I said, is ALL new.
Thanks for admitting yourself it is "Based on". That's all I ever said, I never said one part was shared. I rest my case. Good thing you're not a trial lawyer (or, as Art would say "your not a trial lawyer"), you'd be applying for food stamps right now(but you'd probably fill the form out incorrectly).
Pointless argument guys.
Hey, don't ruin our fun.
Well if you read my other post I was refering to the OTHER guys post....yes it is LOOSELY based on the orginal SBC. BUT it is a TOTAL REDESIGN. Only a few measurements remain the same. GM has said themselves it is a totally new package. Thay call it a "small block" for historical reasons. Any other company wouldn't think twice at making it well known that it is not at all like a old design. But the SBC is a classic, so GM sticks with it....
