I just saw a free two-day high-performance driving program at the Porsche Sport Driving School and was wondering if anyone had done this program before?

Are there any other Driving Schools of this caliber? I know they have their own racing league and what not, but don't know much else about it.

    Thanks in advanced.

free?!? I have a friend who paid ~$3500 for that school....

FWIW, he was very impressed. lots of track time on a great track, wet and dry skidpads, slalom, autocross, etc.

Yeah, I don't know what the odds are to win it, but it's got to be better than playing the lotto lol. I had a former boss that swore by it and raced his Boxster in the "official" Porsche league and was in a strict class that didn't allow many mods at all. He swore by it of course.

I suppose I can pass along the love for anyone else to have a stab at it. If you win just make sure to thank me!

I've done several PDE classes, very impressed. The 911 experience at Birmingham was the best. Its the only class I've done where they have radios in each car, so you get real-time lead-follow feedback from the instructors. Good balance between track and classroom time. Food was outstanding! Several of the instructors race Rolex series and do the PDE classes in the off season. Like most others you get a framed certificate with some photos to hang on your wall.

I hear the camp4 in Finland is the best. I was signed up for camp4 in Colorado but they canceled that venue.

I think they have some form of off-road school w/ the Cayenne near the Birmingham facility (?)

Thanks for posting. I entered and I plan on winning!
They didn't have California down as a Ferrari choice.
    Oh well.

Yeah I did that too. Its fun. But S-L-O-W. You get a couple hours of track time too. Some skipad work also, which I highly recommend. Spin the cayenne in the wet, forwards and then backwards and bring it back straight, all throttle. Tip: Don't sit in the backseat ...

    Great pics frefan!

I've never thought of the Cayenne as an off road vehicle but I bet it would do pretty good, especially with a lift and some lockers!

Mine has the air suspension which gives it 10.7" of lift, which is enough for me on the off occasions that I need it. Mostly I run mine in the lowest setting, and I had it further lowered another 1", which the dealer can do with a laptop. However you lose the ability to run the softer setting at the lowest height (which is fine by me).

At the driving school they have a really steep hill that you have to descend, its so steep that if you take off PASM and try braking it yourself the car will just slide. But then you put it in low range and take your foot OFF the brakes and the computers monitor the grip of each wheel and apply brakes individually and automatically and just the right pressure. One could argue it takes all the skill out of it, but its really quite amazing. You could literally just crawl into the back seat and take a nap while its working.

Wow, that's really amazing. I always thought the Range Rovers were the best high-end off road vehicles and have off roaded in a Discovery which was excellent, but I'll have to look at the Cayenne when I'm ready for a new off-road vehicle. I had a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited the year before they did the 4-door and absolutely loved it but sold it when I had kids. ;)
