The specs of the first ZR1 are as you post. The 2009 ZR1 that I owned were 638hp and 602 ft-lbs of torque. Strangly my Mosler has the same motor but much less weight, about 1700 lbs less I would estimate. It does 0-60 mph in 2.42 seconds according to the manufacturer. My ariel Atom 3 only :) does it in 2.85 seconds

Your point is a good one concerning a period performance car.

The ZR1 is an amazing supercar. GM should be proud of that acomplishment. FYI I sold my '09 Aston martin and '09 ZR1 to buy the Audi V10 and the new vette when it becomes available

The Viper dealer just emailed me rthey have a new viper on the lot and now new ones can be ordered. They are 640hp and I find that exciting. Most people may know but the laws vhanged in 2005 that all cars have the same method to calculate hp and it is at the rear wheels. So that Viper is powerful!

Here's one in Florida- with so few miles, I'd assume even with the recent service this car has some teething pains left though... Even though Clarkson said the car is too wide, the fact that the car is so wide is one of the things that gives it a stunning appearance parked or on the road!!

By the way, as far as all this discussion on speed and acceleration, I'm beyond that and will no longer be inpressed by any supercar until one can go 0-60 in <1 second. After that, I'll be impressed until a car comes along that can do it in <0 seconds....special prepped Delorean anyone? I'd like to go back to, say, 1983 to catch a Duran Duran show (to pick up some of the chicks of course...) :)

i'm with you-i have an alpine a110, that is about 140hp, and frankly, it feels bloody quick because it's so loud and so low!

what's the market for a 220 these days?

I had a Sunbeam Alpine in the day and loved it. Great handling. I also had an X19 Fiat and loved it. Today it would be slow but it still looks great even today. A guy at my WQednesday morning car group has one.

Recently I bought a Lotus Evora S. It has low HP but it handles wonderfully as all Lotus cars do. It maybe my favorite car.
