Well, there's about a foot and a half of snow out side so I'm looking at tearing into this soon. My spider top is a little rough and I have a new one sitting here. I've built cars ground up many times but the one thing I can't say I've ever tried is a convertible top. Anyone here done this? Have any tips? Thanks.

I have fitted a few. Quick tips.
Start from the back only and not the front (header).
Make sure the holes you have to put in the rear lower section bellow the window, to allow the metal strips threaded posts to poke through. Are measured a few times before you cut the holes. You can not undo making holes ;) This advice will become quite apparent when you start the job. Don't use to much contact glue.
If you want to ask any particular questions that you may not get answers to on here. PM me and I will answer them there.

Good morning Spider, any chance you can show a couple shots of how the screw taps for snapping the top cover in place are secured to the frame? One of my screw taps are stripped and does not hold the cover in place very well.

    Thank you kindly.

Yeah, It will probably be a couple weeks before I tear into it but I'll take lots of pictures and document how it works out.

I'm pretty sure there is a plastic insert under that screw. They fall out, or wear out. I think I've replaced one of my inserts, but it was a while ago.

Interesting thread. Taking notes and getting ready myself.

I will be replacing my top in Jan / Feb when I get some time. My plan was to take lots of pictures during the process.

After this x-mass week I go back to work out of town for two weeks then I am home for two weeks. I am going to try to get into mine at that time unless my wife has me laying more new floors in the house. I'm going to take lots of pictures and document all my screw ups for posterity. Wish me luck.

Kind of surprised there have not been others that have fitted roofs.
Seems I am the only one to give any tips, and your welcome by the way
Take heed of my warnings about the metal strip and holes. My first time was tricky, but I think that was down to the maker of the hood. The second time I bought my hood from a German manufactur, this was better made unit, thus a better fit.
Oh yes, another tip. Place masking tape along the bottom of the rear of the roof were it meets the rear fender. This part of the roof slots into a long grove which is part of the body on the inner and outer of the hood. Scratching the paint is a possibility while removing and replacing.
