    Pros? Cons?

I have two friends out there now who are university professors and they're telling me a bit about it. They're planning on spending 2-5 years there, saving the extra money they're making vs. US colleges (teaching at the new University of Dubai). IF I went, it would be after law school.

Just wondering if anyone else here has experience there. Please share your insights.

I have not lived there but have visited dubai many times and have family out there so I know the city life fairly well. The city is growing very fast, always new construction everytime I am there. They are friendly to westerners and most everyone speaks english. The tourists areas of the city are very nice, but once you get outside of that it is like most other arab cities. It is not hard to adjust there as the city is very diverse. I suggest you take a trip out there first, go visit your friends and see what you think. Plane ticket is around $1400. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

    Ryan,

I haven't spend any time there personally, but my mom grew up there all her life. Also one of the girls I am currently dating has grown up and lived there and is currently doing her undergrad in the states. Her dad owns a very large and profitable hotel chain there. If you need any detailed info, or have specific questions, PM/call/email me, and I will have them accurately answered for you.

Your knives will be profitable there, as you can cut thieves' hands off :D :)

I'm going at the end of the month for a few days. There was an article on an abandoned '87 TR in a Uk car magazine that I wouldn't mind tracking down in the UAE. Apparently the motor was pulled to replace the clutch and then it all got too hard so they abandoned it.

    Thanks everyone for your responses!

Yeah xoom, my friends had invited me to spend a few weeks there this summer but unfortunately things didn't pan out. I will get there soon enough though to have a looksee.

I've been out there a few times. I think it would be a great place to go to school. It's a vacation spot for Europeans. You should go and visit your friends. You'll like it.
