Has anyone lowered the suspension on a Scuderia ???

I put on a set of aftermarket wheels and the rear wheels rub (20x12 (offset of 33) with Michelin Sport 325/25/20) tires. The rear rubs when I hit a dip or when driving aggressively in the mountains (on the switch back roads) ….

The question is if I lower the suspension and change the springs (approx.. 1”…) how much will this change the dynamics of the car ??? and has anyone else done this ???

Or should I change the wheels to a less aggressive wheel 20x11 with a 305/25/20 ???

    Thoughts ???

If you simply lower the car you are actually more likely to rub even if the springs are stiffer. Depending on where it's rubbing you may be able to get away with adding some negative camber to the front and rear (I wouldn't do the rear without adding more to the front as well). Basically a Track type alignment.
This may help solve your problem if it is a very slight rub on the outer edge. The safest thing to do would probably be switch out the wheels to a more compatible offset.
    Hope this helps.

    Ask freshmeat.

My new wheels will be 20x12 rears too, planning to put 325/25/20 and car will be lowered.

The manufacturer of your wheels got the offsets wrong. My car has zero finger gap all around & I have zero rubbing issues on my HREs. Couldn't say the same on my BBS FIs...most expensive garbage 19" wheels I've ever bought, completely unacceptable for a $9k set of wheels. I think only ADV could do worse.

That picture was from a recent Ferrari racing days event and I had zero issues on the circuit which would see the car on full load around the corners.

I also had installed Novitec springs before...the ride was stupid bouncy, even in soft suspension mode. I highly would not recommend it. Only advantage it gave was a super super low rear stance, we're talking negative finger rear tuck ;)

thanks for the honesty and feedback, I am working with the manufacture to see if they will build a new set of back wheels .... the offset was way to aggressive for my use. Also you car looks amazing ...

    Ronnie,
what manufacture are you going with ??? make sure and check the offset... that is the key on if there will be issues

I ordered 2 sets before, 1 for my R8 and another for the S5...first set they f'd up and the driver's side wheels had a different pocketing style than the passenger side. The other set had misaligned valved stem openings which caused leaks. It also came mismatching finish on the lip & center caps.

I gave them 2 chances, never again...price obviously didn't equate to quality.

I've read about a lot of negative comments and experiences with adv1 wheels on other sites. Personally I have zero experience with them however some of the claims and accusations out there really made me question the company which leaned me against buying them for my BMW. Having said that I think they have great looking wheels, I just hope the horror stories of build quality are not true.

I hesitate to ask, but what exactly made your FI's "garbage wheels"?

What sites? ADV1 has just been in the market for a few years, those problems probably in the early years.

I don't want to bad mouth the company by posting all the info as I said the experiences are not mine and just things I read on others sites when researching new wheels.
If your curious I'm sure you can find exactly what I found by doing a simple google search or I could Pm you however I don't feel it's appropriate to put them on blast being that I had zero involvement or first hand knowledge. The fact is I choice to go with a different manufacturer not to take any chances and I'm glad I did.

Yeah, I know that thread, I'm on most forums. But that was from 2 years ago. I believe even HRE had incidents years ago.
My friends in Indonesia running ADV1s with no problem whatsoever on their exotics.
And I don't think Novitec wants to collaborate with ****ty wheel company:

Does lowering the car on the stock springs soften the ride?
Why the need to change to an aftermarket spring?

I have heard about this some time ago but am not sure why? Anyone with experience can comment?

The offsets were just not optimal even w "skinnier" tires and definitely far from optimal for any kind of lowering of the car.

It rubbed terribly, and the only remedy I could find at the time when I still had them was running the stock Pirelli's and raising the car back to oem spec. I did not have them on for long because I didn't want to damage the fender paint like atomic80 had when he was running bbs Fi's.

For $9k I expected perfection in finish and fit, bbs did not deliver.

all show and no go is typically the indo way ;) you should know that Ron, you're indo! Adv definitely have the bling factor to match that style. Beautiful wheels, only reason why I gave them a shot but ya fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Went with HRE's and Apex rims for track use (Light, Strong and very resonable). Couldn't be happier!

That sucks! I agree - the FI's are made by their motorsports division in Germany and I would expect perfection.

I have a set about to go on my M3, but understand they work perfectly in that application. I had read of a few issues here on the scud. Was looking at a set the other day for $6k used with tires...glad I didn't get them now. Thanks for the info!
