I was just in another thread, and I took notice what another poster wrote. He was asking if anyone has noticed the upward nudge in the 348's resale? I have, at least to me, it looks like it is clearly rising. 348 availability is slowly but steadly declining, and the good old law of supply and demand is taking hold. I'm estimating a 3 - 5% increase in prices across the line. OK, I'm not looking for flamers. I just want to know if any other owners have noticed this little trend, as I. LONG LIVE THE CHEESE GRATERS
Noticed the clean cars with history low owners holding steady but no real increase. Infact a few have gone really cheap lately here in Canada. Spiders still hold, but early cars are still falling into good 308qv or 328 money.
Noticed more people having trouble finding one, with ts and tb demand going up. Spiders kinda do their own thing. 348 getting recognition for dependability and driving fun. Yeah, wait til spring and you'll see a real nice price bump. How long has it been since you've seen one trade in the 30s?
348 Spiders are up 3% over this time 2005...but that's not much of a bump for 2 years! Beats a loss, though.
Sorry to rain on the parade, but if Stephane's car here is any indication, 348 values are down. A bunch. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1994-Ferrari-348-Spider-Rare-Yellow-w-33K-miles-LOOK_W0QQitemZ270083870818QQihZ017QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 2 years ago, this was easily a $60K+ car. 3 years ago, I bought a good condition 348 TS w/37K miles and a fresh 30K for $42K. Last summer, I bought another nice 348 TS w/23K miles needing a 30K service for $36K and change. So I think the prices are headed south. $1K to $2K a year.
I think you got exceptional deal for your car though it is not reflective of true prices - I would think the market price for a low mile TS with a recent 30K service would be in the $48-52K+ range depending on the year and condition
Except, a 348 with a fresh 30K at $42k is the same as a 348 at $36k that needs a 30K. The mileage would factor in except that individuals tend to buy cars in the same condition. You're basically saying what several had said above, that prices are roughly holding over the past 3 years. Not that it really matters. 348's are driveable bargains.
Get 'em now before the world finds out what a smoking deal the 348 is. I got mine just in time and it is a Series Speciale. What a coup! Well, except for the repair cost. I sure wish the previous owners were as anal as me. I think you will find that the special 348 models are heading up - Spiders holding for nw (but it's winter), SS cars are getting scarce on the listing front, Challenge cars are forgetaboutit unless you want a track horse that has to be rebuilt and Competiziones are atmospheric in the US. These variants will drag the price of the mainstream 348's up. Oh yeah, GTB's and TB's are always harder to find here and they will likely head north in pricing soon, if not already.
If you all would at least agree it has stablized, you'd be a head of the curve....and it apparantly has. Depreciation is flat.
Ive noticed them lower this year in Canada compared to the last few years. 60-70K seems to be the number around here, which is a far cry of 85k just 2 years ago. If anything, im sure they will stay constant now at this price range.
Maybe part of the reason for lower prices in Canada is the the influx of European models available here because of our laws. My friend picked up a mint 348TB from Switzerland through a guy who brings in lots of 348's from Europe
I think that's about it. I wouldn't equate a 348 to a retirement plan, just a smarter buy than a 360 right now. That was my guess as well.
Just sold my '92 348ts with 58K miles for $44K (Last 30K major at 52K miles). That price kinda hurt, BUT, I had a solid buyer. My phone was not ringing off the hook at $46K, so what the hell!
Maybe we should start a thread with actual 348 sale prices to include color, mileage, equipment, date of sale (cash prices only, no trade-ins)
Because of this the Canadian market will always be a little bit skewed compared to US/world prices. Because of the 15-year rule, newer & newer 348's will be allowed to be imported. So our little 348 market won't be climbing anytime soon. By 2010, the gates should open for 355's as well.
