I have a 2019 Superfast and would like to have the auto Start/Stop turned off so I do not have to hit the button on the roof every startup. Can this be done?

    thanks,

I believe the feature has to be turned off each power cycle.
I have just gotten use to hitting the roof button.

I sent my Portofino's ECU to Vivid Racing/VR Tuned for their performance flash, and I had them deactivate the stop/start at the same time.

That feature is great on a Honda Civic but for a performance car, totally annoying and a distraction. I had an SL63 AMG with that feature and I absolutely despised it. One of the reasons why I now have a 360 Spider.

Is there any study to show that the little amount of gasoline this saves is outweighed by all the lead acid batteries and burnt out starter motors gone to an early landfill? :(:oops::rolleyes:o_O

Suggest following a methodical check list procedure similar to pilots; insert seatbelt with right hand, then press start button, right hand moves up to roof start/stop switch, then down to accept terms on right display screen, then over to manettino, then to bumpy ride switch, and finally to left display screen controls. Left handed people have a choice to make. Becomes routine after a few cycles.

I have had one “issue” with my 812SF- the start stop featured failed when I first got the car and has stayed off since- typical Ferrari reliability problems!

Hmm so they changed this from my 2016 FF then, since I have it permanently turned off...

I have to say that the ONLY thing I like about sitting at a red light in one of my Ferrari’s, especially a V12, is listening to the hum of the engine.

The EPA usually allows an upgrade in the City Cycle if you have automatic start/stop. Making it easy to defeat it would be counter to the intent.

Aahhh yes. You need the HELE option I guess... Which is standard where I live - but might be an option in other places?

HELE is a free option here unless you decline. Like Italianfan said, I think it would be a great fun to listen to the V12 startup under a heavy congestion/frequent red stops. :) Can’t wait my first Ferrari!!

Actually, I said the opposite. I hate start/stop....I like listening to the hum of the idling engine.

That might not work out the way you think... Yes for a while it will do stop/start, however depending on the load, and options activated, it might decide NOT to turn engine off... I know it is very sensitive to battery level, and well this engine does need to juice to power up... I am not sure if AC would be a factor...

I do love hearing my V12 so never turning off is a good idea in my mind. Minor part is in heavy traffic when the car more or less sits hopping around just asking for you to push down that accelerator pedal - like a tiger waiting for attack :D

Ali, I know it is a bit of a nuisance but my routine is simple:
    Start button
    On/off button
Auto button (to put in manual)

This isn’t the start of LeMans. I sit there for 30+ sec letting car idle before starting off anyway, even if warm.
(Interestingly, with today’s tech I often scan google maps quickly to make sure no big accidents/dark red spots on my route before I set off.)

My routine is identical. I also add in getting my music setup while idling for a little bit.

I haven’t looked at the wiring for the button myself, but I’m sure it’s a NO or NC switch. You could always take a look and probably mimic the switch being off with the wiring. Of course there’s no clear wiring diagram, so you’ll probably have to do some diagnosis to figure it out.

Have not looked into it but would think the ECU software after start-up defaults to HELE-On before even reading the button position. Meaning - wiring of the switch will have no effect. The code in the respective ECU would need to be modified. This can be done in a couple of ways depending on how its implemented. Modifying flash code comes with its own risks and violates federal law in the US. But certain no one cares given how utterly ill-conceived and potentially dangerous the start-stop function is to an automobile.
