Pulling my Y pipe and while its out was thinking it might be a good idea to clean up this valve. Anyone done this before? Did you tear it apart? How did you clean it and with what?

Mine is in a box on the shelf, but I didn't actually take it apart. Brake cleaner is my stand by cleaner these days.

I just had mine out doing the slave cylinder seals and just put it back together today. I thought about cleaning it up, but it looked fine. Sucked on it and it opened and closed crisp and I really couldn't see anything to mess with, so I left it alone.

I did... I've simplified the exhaust tremendously... Only mistake was getting a muffler that is a tad bit too free flowing and thus a bit loud. It basically sounds like it would if the bypass valve were wired open, perhaps even a bit louder.

I also have dual exhaust bypasses that do not go through the muffler at all, basically exit from what used to be the primary exhaust path of the header. The old secondary path goes to my muffler.

Did you get a CEL from deleting the bypass? I bought a bypass valve controller on here from another member. I am running stock headers (unless I find something wrong with them while its apart) Hyper-flows and a Tubi. love the sound with the valve open but after a cpl beers or glasses of wine with my wife down town i dont need the attention.

Actually, I was supposed to not have a CEL but have since discovered that someone had tampered with the light, so I was unaware that I had a CEL until recently. I have to figure out what codes are being sent, because I had asked the people who had reprogrammed the ECU to disable specific codes including the CEL for the bypass valve.

I am not so worried about tripping the CEL because I can easily design and implement workarounds for such minor things (such as the solenoid), but it is annoying that it was supposed to be already addressed by the company that reprogrammed the ECU.

I am more annoyed at myself that I did not find the missing CEL bulb during my initial inspection of the car, and suspect that I was distracted by other concerns about the function and condition of the car in order to evaluate and purchase the car.

In the end, despite the CEL at the moment, I have the car I want and I will resolve the minor faults one at a time. At least the CEL is not flashing which would have been much more disturbing for me to see, indicating misfire. I am also running without cats, air injection pump, or other emissions controls - so there are multiple reasons the CEL may be on and honestly I have not scanned the ECU yet, as I have bigger fish to fry first.

I have replaced the SD light ECU's with a Aerospace logic temp meter, and I am actually waiting to get back stateside to do the major surgery that I have planned for the entire car (redoing the valve guides, seals, and seats as needed).
