I was asked to make a separate thread. I just bought a 1992 348 ts and I think the wheels are sitting too wide. Also, the front tires are shot. There is damage on one fender that I think came from the too-wide wheel/tire. Because of the dry rotted tires, and also because of possibly getting the fenders repaired and repainted, I am in a bit of a time crunch to find a better setup.

Finding reasonably priced OEM rims seems possible but appears to take some patience to find them at a decent price. Does anyone have a set for sale? Finding aftermarket staggered 17" rims with high offset has proven impossible so far. I have found some 18" staggered rims that I think may work. There are two wheels from Advanti. One is called the Classe and the other is called the Cammino. They both come with 45mm offsets which, based on the numbers given for "Later Offset" (49mm front and 43mm rear), should work. I can get 8" wide for the front and 9" wide for the rear to hold 215/45R18 and 255/40R18 tires respectively. Those should be correct if the OEM tires sizes were 215/50R17 and 255/45R17. Can someone, please, confirm those tire numbers? Other than caliper clearance, I think these should work. I have asked Advanti if they know anything about caliper clearance. Has anyone tried these? Does anyone have suggestions for aftermarket 17" or 18" rims that they know will clear the calipers without spacers?

I was told 8" was a little wide for 215mm wide tires but it is within the specified range for the tire I am looking at and is only 0.5" wider than stock.

Here is the link for the Advanti Cammino if anyone is interested:

There is another thread on wheels fairly recently (I can’t find it now) that discussed them and had some pictures of them on cars. Apparently they were only available for a short time but on the right coloured car look good I think and are oem!

I'd love to see them on a 348.

They need to be silver I think.

I run the optional 355 wheels on my Grigio Titanio colored 355 and absolutely love them. They give the car a more aggressive and modern (but fitting) look. I'll try to take a photo this weekend and post it.

Do you have spacers on the rear because the stock 355 rims supposedly have a massive offset and the latter 348 rear rims actually reduced offset to deal with the handling issues. So, in short, the 355 rear rims go in wrong direction for stability.

No spacers with either set. I tend to keep things stock except for the sound system I have. The "stock" 355 wheels sit "inboard" a bit (tucked in) in the rear. These factory OEM optional wheels sit out more in the rear - which was an added benefit for me without needing to do anything special, just bolt them up; it's a look I wanted. I'll try to get some photos up this weekend.

As for stability, I don't track the car and don't drive over 80-90mph on highways so I don't concern myself with having the car setup for the extremes, just for driving enjoyment. I also run Michelin's all seasons and not summer only tires, they are way more comfortable and they don't turn to hockey pucks when the weather in the North East gets cool in the fall or cold in the winter.

I misread your previous post. I thought you put 355 rims on a 348. Nevermind...

Search the forum; loads of threads and offset measurements etc.

Yes, but nothing on these rims. I also want to be sure they clear the calipers. I have also found that wheels from Volvo S60R and V70R almost fit. Same bolt pattern, a workable rim width and good offsets. The only thing I don't know is if they can clear the calipers. Also, the centerbore would need to be bored out from 65.1mm to 67.1mm.

That's amazing actually--I figured I would dislike them, but while they aren't a favorite, they certainly aren't a 512M wheel are they?

What an interesting bit of Ferrari trivia. Had I not learned the story here, I would have been sure these were just aftermarket. Always something to learn.

The photos don't do them justice, I'm no photographer. In person they look really good. I think it depends on the color of the car - for my Grigio they work well, I think on Rosso Corsa they also do, some others less so.

I suspect I am the only person in the word who does not like the challenge wheels on either the 348 or 355.

    Yes. :)

I have a set, I just need to get around to refinishing them.
