Has anyone used a valet for their Gallardo in Chapel Hill recently?

The moral of the story is to never trust a valet, I guess. Sad state of affairs, really.

edit:
If you read through the thread, you'll see that just about everyone rips into the guy. Also, someone called the Hilton (where I guess he works) to report him. Hopefully he gets fired, and quick.

For those not members at **********:

I know I'll take **** for this, but here goes the story anyway. I drove the G Spider down to St. Louis last Friday to participate in the Redline Time Attack event at the Gateway Raceway. It's a boring-ass 5 hour drive. And there was traffic coming out of Chicago, so it was actually more like 6.

Anyway, I arrive at the Chase Park Plaza hotel around 9ish. For St. Louis standards, it's a pretty swanky hotel. The valet service is operated by the hotel itself. So in a lapse of judgement, I'm weak enough to hand over my keys to the valet.

Fast forward to 2:30AM. I'm woken up by a call from the valet manager saying "please come down, we can't seem to close the soft-top on your car". Still half asleep, I mumble why they don't just push the button for it. "I don't want to touch this car any more, sir, please come down". That wakes me right up. Enough to remember that the soft-top was UP when I arrived, enough to wonder why the **** would these schmocks ever need to even touch that button?

So I get down there and ****. The soft-top is up, but the rear wings of it are at a 45 degree angle. That last step before they're supposed to come down. I start throwing explicitives left and right as I get in the car. Press the button to get the top down, the hydraulic engine just keeps on spinning. Top no go downy.

Not only that, but there's ****ing mud all over the carpets in the car?!? That's when the shouting gets real loud. And the valet manager and security guy are real quick to assign blame to the last shift on duty. After a few more minutes of screaming, they get the valet guy that actually drove my car on the phone.

His story is that he drove the car to a secure garage, but when he got there, he needed to roll up the windows, but it was dark, he couldn't see anything, so he just started pushing all the buttons!! Well, that obviously ****ed up the soft-top along the way. Not knowing what to do, he called some other valet guy, who told him to leave the engine running idle for 15 minutes?!? Well, duh, that didn't do ****.

Regarding the mud, apparently the garage they were using were under construction and had **** all over the place. The stupidity of these folks is staggering.

Anyway, car had to be ****ing towed back to Chicago. I missed my event. And I spent another 5 hours driving back in a freaking Chevy Impala or some **** like that.

And at first the hotel manager tried to wipe it all off with "we have signs saying we don't take any responsibility". Haha. Well, after I had a word with him and the story about the insane order of events, he at least agreed to pay for towing, rental car, detailing of the car, and any repairs.

Now here comes the funny part. I go down to check-out the next morning. The guy manning the counter has his manager right next to me. So he starts, "okay, sir, so I'll just need $22 for the valet service", and before I can even open my mouth to object, his manager interrupts "nononono, take that off.. now!". Hahaha. Then the counter guy continues, "I hope your enjoyed your stay", and again the manager must interrupt with "uhm, this is the gentleman with the Lamborghini". You could smell the awkwardness of this guy from 30 feet away.

But what a ****ING hassle. 10 hours of boring ass driving. And no freaking Lamborghini for daaaaays of beautiful Chicago driving weather.

To top it all off, my Ferrari is currently ALSO in the shop! An effing exhaust pipe FELL OFF?! And I thought you just needed two Italian exotics: One to drive, one to service. Seems like that number should be more like three. So I'm stuck with two rental cars and my S4 as DD. Pure torture.

So yes, I've learned my lesson the hard way. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER hand the keys to your exotic over to a ****ing valet. No matter the hotel. Insist to self-park or leave it out in front. And take the keys with you. Or if they resist, tell them to **** themselves and go somewhere else.

When I was in South Beach last year with my Ferrari I paid extra to keep it parked in front of the hotel. I was a valet when I was 17 and personally know how cars are treated.
