    Wrong place for this

But to answer I would say AM sees that the financial crisis is going to hit the upper middle class the hardest and right now the last thing you want to be selling are $120k vantages because those are the demographic.

Im sure AM is seeing sales of those Vantages plummet right now.

They cant just fold up shop and call it a day...they have to sell cars. So they will target the rich who, they hope, arent going to be affected enough to stop buying $200-$300k cars.

Yup, Bugatti and the other >$1mm cars invented a whole new game with inverse cost:value rules.

Not a smart move to do this during these times.

I read an article about this type of thing but it was for places like tiffany and the stores that sell expensive purse's. They said that people that were buying $300-500 goods would no longer be in the market but the 1k+ market would stay strong. Tiffany stores were to open stores that would carry only the less expensive silver jewelry and stores like coach were going to move their operation the the higher end markets.. I suppose the same ratios will apply to the luxury car market.

You think theyd do better trying to sell $100k cars to the upper middle class that just lost half their retirement savings in the market and are in debt up to their eyeballs ?

Low volume/high price. Thats the safest place to be right now.

    Exactly...

I manufacture collectibles. The market under $200 has disappeared but my sales above $200 are growing.

I just wish AM would diversify their design some. I love the style, but all the cars since the DB7 look way too similar.
