Local Maser dealer in the Metro Detroit area is advertising a 24 month lease on a new QP for like $1,500 per month. No mention of up front cash commitments, but has it become possible to lease a QP for just a little more than leasing a 750Li?

Well the MSRP of a QP isn't that much more than a 750Li anyway, $25k or so. Sounds right to me.

Maserati has special lease rates for the new DuoSelects out there. $1500 sounds about right for 24 months, with just a little out of pocket...say 10K. Its a great deal for a 24 month lease.

With less than 10 grand up it sounds like a show stopping deal. This is probably the way to get a new one as they seem to depreciate faster than keys falling off tall buildings.

I received an offer for something like $21,000 down and $999 a month for 24 months.

Base MSRP on a 750Li is $78,900 Maser tags in at $116,500 (both cars plus add ons)

I guess that I was more shocked to see Maserati lease adds in section A of the Detroit News this morning.

I, too, have heard some rather negative press regarding depreciation numbers on these cars. A friend of mine was going to lease one and after careful crunching of the numbers, backed away and leased a Mercedes instead (CLS 63). If you pull the trigger I'd love to see pics.

Oh, I am not in the market for a new Maser, I just got a new sedan. If I was in the Maser market I'd be looking at the GranTurismo anyhow.

I was just amazed how cheap you can lease a $120,000 automobile and that they are advertising their lease prices.

Wow! So around $45k to drive a $116k car for 2 years?

That seems like some serious depreciation!

Posting this again here but think it is relevant: I just one hour ago finished a 4 hour football game trip to my son's college in my '05 QP which has 4400 miles. I'm not a showy guy..we parked in tailgate section with everyone else, were admiringly looked at, people at the game came up, introduced themselves, shook my hand, made me an honorary alumnus, looked after the car (unbeknownst to me) when some guy put his kid on the hood (!) to tie his shoe, had a dreamy ride home with a little XM Chill on and a huge moon...all the while feeling so special hearing that engine purr, though somewhat aggressivly, wanting to do more...but Ms SEAL was snoozing and we just had an awesome evening (though at one point dropped down two and jumped up to 100, Ms SEAL dint even notice). Guess I could try to get $65-70 if I were in a crunch but prolly still take awhile. No one even glanced at the BMW 645 (?) 'vert that was cruising around.

In stock market terms, I guess I have gone from short term to long term holder...but somehow after this trip, I dont feel shorchanged..gonna clean 'er up tomorrow...

Ciao...great car, great heritage which IS in the car..

    Chris

Yeah, for some reason they depreciate like there is no bottom. Personally, I'd rather have one of these than any sedan from Germany, but in the below example, at $3.25 per mile in depreciation...I'd buy pre owned.

General expectation for any luxury car is about 20 percent every year. This seems to be about exactly that percentage. Get into the 63 series or the M series or the 760Li, and you are going to be in the same boat, if not worse.

A car, IMHO, is an extension of ones personality... Bean-Counters buy soap bars... Adventurers buy Adrenalin! Maserati delivers the shot!

I looked for the advertisment card to post but tossed it out. It definetly was about 20 grand
down and $995 or $999 a month. (probably not including taxes)

If I was in the market for a luxury car, I would certainly pick up a quattroporte over an mb or bmw.

    They had 6-10 cars.

I guess the best day to get the car was last Saturday. Have to wait another full 30 days until the end of the month!

Same for me - we test drove a QP on the 29th and the salesman offered an instant 20 K discount.

He said it was good until the end of the month - so I'm sure that particular offer will roll around
    again in about 30 days.

Funny, though, he didn't mention leasing at all - he was talking about an outright purchase.

I dont have any numbers, but a 760i (V12) depreciates like a rock

Weekly ad in the sports page of the LA times this Sunday states 24 month lease, $13,600 and change down for the auto QP for $1099/month. Problem is only 5K per year, not typical 10k. 750IL's I've seen for $900/month, half or less down and for 10K miles per year for 2 years. No comparable at all. I've not seen any QP's leased for greater than 10K for a 2 year lease and 22.5K miles for a 3 year lease. Break these leases down and they are not bargains at all! Sure, they make an expensive car obtainable but not a good idea IMHO. As stated earlier, makes a lot more sense to by a low mileage used one that has the heaviest depreciation already done. Or maybe even a new one if they are knocking down the prices so low.

As an aside, I find this website to be useful for lease evaluation. Unfortunately, don't list cars like Maserati's but the majority of new cars are listed:

    www.leaseguide.com

I paid a nominal fee to get it but it's helped me understand the leasing game and find the best deals. It may not have a fee anymore.

I'm considering getting a coupe, 2003-2004 with low miles(10K or lower). Seems like market for these cars is about mid $40K and these were $100K cars new I'm pretty sure. Seems like fantastic bang for the buck to me if they are reliable and costs of ownership aren't off the charts.

With discounts being offered on the new cars, the used car prices should be depressed even further!

Used on 07's on ebay are listed around 100K but that the price you could probably get from a dealer on a new one. So the used car guys are going to be hurting as long as the dealers are fire selling these cars.
