I'm hitting the highway, notice my gas light flicker on a few times. I knew the needle was on empty but I usually have a good reserve so I figure I'll take an exit about 6 exchanges up where I know I can get 94 octane (my preference). But...I don't make it! Stuck on the side of the highway...in rush hour. Damn! So I call a friend who has a shop nearby and ask him to bail me out. He's on his way. About 5 minutes later the parametics pull up. I get out to talk to the attendant and he tells me someone called in a 911 emergency about a driver slumped over his steering wheel. I tell him I ran out of gas and was just suffering from depression. He's laughing and asks if he can see my car. No problem! As we are looking at the car a policeman pulls up, followed by a firetruck and a tow truck. Holy F$%k!
I've got them all out on the highway with me. Damn! Nothing compounds your own stupidity more than having the entire 911 team responding! The parametic informed them all I was just suffering from depression at having comitted a stupid mistake. Finally my friend appears in his C6 Corvette with a gas can in the passenger seat.
    Escape from my self-imposed hell!
    Finally!

    Just another day in paradise!

I had a 'duh' incident when I was building my house and had gotten a new truck with a new bedliner. After loading up with about 60 2x8's from the Home Depot, I went to take them home and 'bam', they all slid out onto the main road at about 7:30 AM. I got lots of new names from drivers passing by. Ever since then I do not carry any load without using racheting tie downs. I feel your pain.

I had sort of the same thing happen to me. I'm driving with a friend of mine and the car starts acting weird. Then all of a sudden all the lights on the dash come on, it looked like a pinball machine, then the engine shut off. I was thinking "oh frickin great, what is it this time". I was lucky enough to be right by a gas station. Since I was still rolling I took it out of gear and coasted right up to the pump. Then it dawned on me that I didn't have any GAS. DUHHHH what a doofus. LOL! Filled it up and off we went.

Boy, have I been there, only mine happened when I had to stop at an uphill light with a load of railroad ties. You guessed it, the light turned green, I started to pull away and the load of 10 railroad ties slid off the back and onto the intersection. What a mess.

    Sorry not pics.
Was in Andre's shop today when a truck pulls and and the driver starts:
Did you see the Ferrari at the side of the road yesterday! DOH!
    It was me.
An employee of mine stopped by to see how my car was. She would have stopped but saw me on my cell phone so she figured I was ok.
And so my suffering continues (all in good fun).

never happened to me, but reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld, when Kramer was pushing the limit on how far the needle could go.
