I would like to propose a question? Is FerrariChat.com becoming too segmented for people in the ‘Model Specific Discussions”? I just saw today when I opened up FChat under Model Specific Discussions that is has been re-segmented into much smaller tighter groupings. It may be just me but I really liked the way it was before. I am not resistant to change, but it seems like the forum is now becoming too segmented within certain groups. Even though I own a 328 I liked being able to read about the 348 in the same section. Same with 355 in the previous section for more modern Ferrari’s…..How many great posts have there been on 308 vs. 328. vs 348 over the years.....I can hardly count......Now, I have to browse through many more sections in FChat to read interesting areas…

I know folks have specific passions around certain years and models, but it seems like something was just lost with the newly updated FChat here….call me crazy, but I like being able to read about various models within a certain section…..

Thoughts? Am I the only one that feels this way? I was not ever sure where to post this question in the forum....

I like the new setup because I look for boxer specific stuff and this makes it easier for me rather than weeding through things to find what I want. In the boxer section it is Flat 12 models only, maybe too specific for some but Im in heaven there.

Pretty soon there will be a section on "308 carbs" and one on "308 2V inj." and one on "308 QV" and one on...

The basic idea is to have comparative threads in general, tech threads in tech with model specific threads in each models section.
Hopefully it should help provide an easier way of searching for something specific to each family of models

At first I thought the idea was stupid, but seeing it now, I really like it.

Na, never will happen. I don't see the number of forums growing much at all.

I may be a newbie here but I typically use the forum for reading about 328s and many other models, searching and most of all casual reading to learn about all Ferrari models….so from what I count there are 43 various forums now under FChat counting all the geographies, model specific sections etc. For casual reading it is becoming harder and harder to follow…..you have to go to so many sections to find information and topics that may be interesting for reading outside of the model you own or are interested in.

There is a overly used term in marketing “death by PowerPoint”, meaning too many slides and you loose the impact and interest of your presentation….I feel like the forum is heading in that direction with all these new additions…..sometimes simplicity is eternal bliss…..and I am in Marketing! Anyway I may be a lone voice in the forest, thus who cares….but seems to me by gaining more forums we are loosing the ability to casually read and be interested in the forum….just my 2 cents…..

I never saw a poll on the subject…..I missed that one….I would have voted NO!

Blame the 355 guys, they didn't want to be in with the 348s in classics :D

In truth, people here don't like change. Every change has met with resistance, but it will all be considered normal soon.

It's too segmented now...for instance, the Mondial T shares the same engine as the 348, yet they are now in different areas.

I love the new arrangement. If I only want to read 355 threads, why make me weed through a bunch of 328 threads? THis is much more efficient!

Behavior around change is predictable......as can be seen in the famious change curve below......I guess I am not through the curve yet.....Tillman is right of course in that we have to be forced through and it will become normal soon.....but normal does not make better!

I think our official 7 day poll for this one had one of the most positive results ever. Before we switched to vB only about 30% wanted the move. I told every to just trust me on it and I got beat up for a few months. 6 months later we had a poll and over 90% liked the change to vB! :)

    Some suggestions...

    1) No one in their right mind reads each of the regional forums, I don't.

    2) I don't even see anyone that would read each model specific forum. You own a model or three or you are looking at another model or three.

Now Tech Q&A is a forum I don't think we should ever break down.

    3) Use the new posts feature.

    4) Use Advanced Search.

Thr revised model specific categories are great. Saves a lot ot time searching, and the search function does not always bring up specifically the topic I want.

Weeding through loads of topics that dont interest you is not simple. To someone learning about all models I can see it being easier on your index finger and mouse but for me, certian models just dont appeal for one reason or another and I just want to go to areas of interest to me. You notice marketing errors (if they are errors) because you are in the business. I notice issues with cars because thats what I do. I like the new setup and the marketing mistakes went right over my head.
