Sorry if this vehicle (which has been on ebay a few times) has already been promoted or pummelled on this site, but I couldn't find it in a search.

Anyway, my curiosity has been piqued and wanted anyone's personal knowledge of this vehicle...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-Ferrari-328-GTS-FEAR-FACTOR-ELIMINATED-gorgeous_W0QQitemZ120005397420QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6212QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Yes, I'm not too crazy about some of the mods, but most seem easily reversible. I'm getting the hots again for another F-car, and a 328 still gets my attention the way no other does. (Should never have sold my black one. Oh well.)

So, let the opinions begin OR send me to the thread where this has previously been discussed. Thanks, A Hudson

I think the modifications on this are wretchedly ugly, almost to the point of ruining the car, but ... that's all subjective.

The engine bay looks shabby -- plug wires look like spaghetti and the intake casting has a deteriorating spray-paint job. That's not encouraging, and suggests the "$7K" service was done by his neighbor.

The speedo is darker than the tach. In my '87, they match. Hard to verify from the photo, but it's enough to make me curious about the mileage and history.

The badging on the rear of the car is ludicrous -- that huge cavallino looks like a wall sculpture, and the 328/GTS emblems have been moved around kind of whimsically. I would be surprised if this car had not been resprayed. (EDIT: Well, they removed the U.S. rear side marker lights, so it's been patched and painted at least there.)

I'd pass on this one at the Buy-It-Now price and look for one that's been treated with more respect.

Maybe check this one out on FerrariAds: http://www.ferrarichat.com/ferrariads/showproduct.php?product=1042&sort=1&cat=11&page=5

The red with Tan looks nice... at $44000.... The ebay model may have a reserve lower than the buy it now price.. say $34000 $10000 difference? If its a genuine car I am sure you could sort the alloys and cable ties for less than 10k!!!

    But I do love red/tan!!!

Interesting that no one has noted the convex wheels on '87... That's highly curious. I am also pretty sure that it's a Euro car.

The "wall sculpture" comment had me laughing. I rechecked the photos, and yes, it is large enough for a pigeon to land on. My "cheap" gene grabs me every now and then (yes, I understand the inherent dangers therein) so the $ looked more attractive than the photos... at least the first time around.

The red/tan you suggested is a beaut. There's a grigio 328 in FL that was recently threaded as well, at around $40k, 36k on the miles. I tell you, I love the hunt almost as much as getting the car, but the conquest has got to be worth it.

Thanks for your candid reviews and comments. Any others out there?
    A Hudson

I keep trying to figure out if the paint looks that bad for real or if its the sun in the photos.

Lots of scratches, although that might just be a bad scrubbing. However the rear valance has been crushed as well, so this one hasn't had an easy life.

I'm with Bullfighter on this one.

There are plenty of good 328's around, why risk buying one in such poor condition?

LOL at the mats that don't even match the interior.

Okay, I have red welts on my typing fingers. Repeat: "I shall not look at dung; I shall not look at dung." I feel better now.

Thanks for the candid and brutally honest help here. Who said F-chat isn't tough love?

I'm still in the hunt and will have my prying eyes on all your 328's, for sale or not. Suggestion: Keep your garage locked.

Thanks again. Keep me posted and I'll do the same. If you have or know of a 328, I'd love a PM or posting. Open to all colors but white exterior and/or bright red interior.

    A Hudson

To relate to another thread, the headrests on this one do not have the horse embossed on them.
