Has this ever been done?

I personally know a man (my best friends dad) who owns a Ferrari, but he isn't... lets say nice, so he won't let me get a ride in it. No clue why, he barely lets his own son ride in it!

I have quite a few books on Ferrari's up in my room, along with many magazines. I have read most of them around 1-2 years ago, but every now and then they're good for a re-read!

Excellent! Kudos to CarreraGTcrazy for doing something your buddy's dad won't do. You'll learn that the Prancing Horse is ridden by many great people but just as many "horse's a$$es".

Well, yeah, I imagine it did. I do think those early Mustangs are cool; I just couldn't love one as much as I love my Ferrari, relative power notwithstanding. The experience of driving my 308 is, to me, nearly surreal, almost otherworldly, and in my opinion, there are few other cars quite as beautiful. Those are subjective opinions that I'm sure others do not agree with, but that's just the way I feel about my 308, even if it would lose to a souped-up Mustang (and many other cars) in a flat-out drag race.

Drag racing is not what my Ferrari's about.

Andy, as for your friend's dad who doesn't even give many rides to his own son, I don't know why some Ferrari owners are difficult on this matter. I remember when I got my new stereo installed, two boys, about ten and twelve, came running across the parking lot to see my car. Their mother, who had probably paid more for her new Mercedes cabriolet, began shouting in panic, "That's a Ferrari! Oh, my God, don't touch it!"

Ridiculous. I told the boys that I touch it all the time, and it's not fragile. I happily showed them the car and let them sit in it, which I'm happy to do for anyone as long as they are respectful.

Two summers ago, with the permission of each of the boys' parents, I even gave rides to most of a boy scout troop that admired my Ferrari at the Automezzi (Italian car) show.

Andy, though I personally prefer the 308/328 over the 348, that's just a matter of personal preference. Anyone who loves Ferraris is a friend of mine. I'll gladly give you a ride if you come to Denver.

If the 348 is the car you really love, get one. You won't be disappointed, even if there are other cars with more HP. Very few other cars, except for other Ferraris, can match it for handling. In any case, it's pure joy to drive.

Thats really nice of you. I wish there were more people like that around here. Too bad I don't go to Denver The only time I've been is for a stop-over.

It's true though, if you love the style, you might aswell buy it, because that's all you really need.

True, true. I don't understand why he won't let us ride in it, but oh well. He wouldn't be the first a$$h0le i've met!

dream a little and tell me about your perfect 348...

Is it a Tb, Ts, Spyder, SS, Competizone, GTB, GTS?...What color is it...Is it all appearance stock or modified...what mechanical mods would you make? Price is no object, just dreams. I'd love to hear you opinions about the future of Ferrari ownership.

Mine is quite specific. I want a 348 Spyder, red, black highline wheels, tubi exhaust, tan seats, made in November of 1993, new ferrari seats with the prancing horse emblem on the headrest..

Some other stuff too that I can't think of right now. I can't wait to get one, although I'm going to be waiting years!

You have it backwards - the obscure 288 GTO actually tied with the legendary Testarossa!

I take great pleasure in that the 512M apparantly gained only one second in 1995 over the old 1984 flying mirror.

Maybe Chuck Yeager was right after all, sometimes it IS the man, not the machine.
