On my thermostat I can do an advanced setup. Does anyone know what "deadband" means? I can adjust it from 1 to 6 degrees. What is the best setting?
Also, I can adjust the cycles/hour from 2 to 6. I assume this means how many times the heater comes on in an hour. What is the best setting for cycles?

The furnace in the basement of a house is adjusted automatically by the thermostat to be switched on as soon as the temperature at the thermostat falls to, maybe, 18 °C, and the furnace is switched off by the thermostat as soon as the temperature at the thermostat reaches 22 °C. Then the deadband is 4 °C.
