A buddy of mine has a 86 328. Here is the question, he had his fender painted in a body shop that has a heated paint booth that bakes the paint and heats the whole car up extremely hot, where it cures the paint with in 30 minutes and the paint can be wet sanded and buffed after that time frame. I asked the body shop manager if that rush of hot heat has effect on belts and hoses, in a car. He says no, the cars motor actually runs hotter than the heat that the paint booth heats up to. True or False?

Do you guys, think that extra bake time in a paint booth could cause premature dry rot on a belt in a Ferrari. The sad thing about this, is that his son pulled his bike out of the garage and scratched the other fender on the car, and it is going back in this week, to be painted and baked another time.

Do you think this hurts and or causes damage to the timing belt???

I'm no expert, but one has to think of the high degree of heat any car could drive through(Arizona, Nevada, Texas, and other points on the earth) and I don't see much difference to your situation. So my answer would be that the extended body temperatures should be able to take the heat.

    IMHO

Doors seals, boot seals etcetera are far more delicate than the belts. If no damage to them, then no worry.

Was the paint work done anywhere in Moon Township? Just curious ,as I have had a hard time in the past finding anyone interested in paint-work on my 328 (I'm the subject of your "Drive it like you stole it" thread). I wound up at Asott in Sewickley for collision work after hitting a deer about a mile from where I did that infamous burn-out. They did an exellent job on the repair and I can't wait to get it back! BTW, I saw the 360 wheels and your car looks great.

Kind of funny, I always hear about you and your car. I get this all the time, "Do you know the guy in the Black Ferrari with the Blonde girl in the passenger seat?" If I had a nickel for every time I heard that. You are my hero, I will verify that you DRIVE YOUR CAR. I cannot tell you how many times regardless of weather, I get calls from my buddies there was that Black 328 sitting outside of Ground Round again.

The 328 that I was talking about was a friend of mines dad, and they live in OH. They trust me with cars, and asked the question so I kind of posted that for them. I kind of knew the answer, but just wanted to be sure. If you asked me what body shop, I would have to say Greater Pittsburgh Auto Collision. I am friends with the owners son, and yes, he told me that you there were also.

I'm actualy afraid I'm guilty of driving it "too much". I love the car and look for any excuse to get it out of the garage. The weather, road conditions, and local wild-life are all good reasons to park the car more than I do. As for the Ground Round, I think they're going to name a section after my wife and I. Good food & great service. If you see my car there come on in and I'll buy you a cold one.
    Regards

I will take you up on the cold one. You said that your car is at Ascot. The head of service there owns a small car lot, right next to one of mine in Beaver. I forget his name, but would know him if I saw him. Maybe I will pop in there if your car is still down there?

It is still there ( they were kind enough to store it until the weather improved) but I hope to pick it up soon.
