All this talk about which is the best and worst ferrari is nonsense. All Ferrari's have issue. If it didn't have any issues, it wouldn't be a Ferrari, it would be a Mercedes. Each Ferrari has it's own charm and it's own place in the heart of its owner. That's why it's never good to slag off a particular model. The Mondial is often targeted as being a terrible car, yet I would love to have a convertible version . I prefer it to the new California. As for the 355, I can't think of a more beautiful car that is being manufactured today. That to me says it all.
True dat! I think this is the thread where if either Dave or I ever meet in person we both need to duck to prevent giving black eyes to the other.
I often think this when reading threads on here. The Bradan thread with essentially a strip down and rebuild of everything on the car quoted $20k to $25k dollars for a respray. I'm sure it's good work, but you can get a great paint job in the UK for a quarter of that. Engine-out servicing, I regularly see quoted at upwards of $5,000 on here. In the UK, we'd pay a third of that figure. Even the parts prices that the US guys quote - I don't know why you're not all putting in orders with Eurospares or Maranello Parts here in the UK, I can only assume you have to pay punitive import duties?
Steve, I buy a majority of my parts from Eurospares. Absolutely the lowest price supplier with excellent service.
I am a new first time owner and totally agree. You need to get to know the car, weather its the 355 or other car before passing judgement. I'm learning about it and so far enjoying it. Thanks for the good summary. Boaf
Just read through the whole thing (whew!). There's a benefit to newbs like me in dredging up old threads full of controversy. If you can cut through 85% of the garbage, there are some pearls in there. It can be a real education. You can also get a sense of who the personalities are without having to enter the mosh pit of OT forums.
Absolutely. There's so much information on here and on the other Ferrari forums. The 355 is not a difficult car to work on and there are so many owners contributing to these forums that the pool of knowledge gets deeper each day. I hate to admit it, but if I lived in the US and couldn't spin my own spanners, I doubt I would enjoy owning any supercar.
Passion can sometimes come off a bit harsh. My guess is if you meet yiu ar more likely to start another band DaverocksBobflops. All good!!
My personal experience has been rather cheap as have many others. The way i see it is there are like 13000 cars and we generally only see posts from problems of course. I think i am going to start a thread for people who go for a drive with no problems. Then newbies can see how many posts where we have no problems.
