Don't think so but it has a VIN that is total BS, (WBAFF3400C7356185) indicating a 1982 BMW 733i made in Germany and 199K miles on it as of April 2012, for starters!

PS You can see a glimpse of part of an old 7 series BMW in the last picture on the website! Probably just an honest mistake, right? ;)

    I also like this line...
On Oct-01-13 at 09:05:56 PDT, seller added the following information:
Note: The first Picture is a standard stock picture. Following pictures are of the actual vehicle.

That explains the much better condition, correct front light lenses and lack of front side market light of the car in the "standard stock picture"!

I noticed that this Series 1 doesn't have rear speakers in the rear parcel shelf, can anyone confirm this with the series
I noticed the addition of rear speakers below the A/C vents in the rear wheel wells.
Kind of surprised that the seller didn't rectify the suspected stale fuel that's causing the poor performance at high RPM, appears to be priced to sell for a manual @ $19.9K.

When a seller says that the car runs like crap because of something really simple, like "stale fuel", or "won't start, needs new battery", you know that is probably the furthest from the truth.

Interesting car. It has a series 1 console and series 1 trunk and gas levers next to the seat yet it has a series 2 grill and TRX tires.

Did your Series 1 car that you sold to Aidan have rear speakers??

Based on my recent experience I suspect distributor advance issue causing loss of revs.

Power drain on battery is pretty common and took me months to sort out.

Car is not far from me and tempting to go see, buy, fix and flip (mine?).

Mine has speakers on the rear shelf and in the doors. Probably non-original.

Good price for a 32k manual car even if not in perfect running order.

The clue here is "urgent sale due to divorce" - having been there myself 13 years ago I can tell you from first hand experience that the last thing on your mind is getting a car that you love running 100% correctly so you can sell it and give your soon-to-be ex 50% (or more if your wife is so inclined) of the sale.

This could be a great buy due to someone else's misfortune and I for one would be out there like a shot.

Low mileage, manual, decent condition for £14k (maybe less if you offer to pay part in "lose able" cash ? Jesus, I wished I was the other side of the pond.

That said I really feel for the seller as this is a really traumatic time - I had to buy my Cadi back out of my divorce settlement so have effectively bought it twice but I didn't mind as she needed the money to house the kids.

And then I ended up with all three kids living with me.....

Sometimes you end up doing the wrong thing for the right reason !

It's a manual and a $20K asking price would be an outstanding bargain IF it checks out with a thorough PPI.

Russell is right, as unfortunate as a divorce is, that is one of the "3D's" causing bargains to be had in assets for sale (Debt, Death, Divorce).

Does anyone have a real serial number for this car? Being a 5 speed narrows down the possibilities quite a bit and my guess is that it is 32895 last sold in Massachusetts in 2010. That car had a few miles less than this one and also had the all orange front lenses so it fits as a possible. It also had the reversed tail lights, rear end not shown for the sale car.

My guess also. The recent sale would also explain the lien on it.

If the grilles in the rear parcel shelf are the same as the doors, they're original :)

It was back on Ebay earlier this week. Yesterday evening, I spoke to the owner who said the last auction had fallen through. Sounded genuine and provided good explanations about car and condition. We got cut off but he left me a voice mail, I responded via email and vxmail offering very close to his BIN but with the stipulation that I pay off the lien directly as is customary. He never responded and now the auction has been cancelled...weird, he may have found a seller last night, still a simple respond would have been nice!

    I bought this 400.
I've gone through it and all looks good.
It's nice to see a 400 that's been properly maintained.

It is running a little funny. I'll look into that next week.

It has both rear A/C and a 5 speed box.
    Great combo.

    Thanks.

I just fixed the running problem.
The fuse for the right fuel pump wasn't making a good connection.
    Runs great now.

Also, I looked under the rear shelf and there aren't any cutouts for speakers in the metal.
Could the factory have put the speakers where they are because of the rear A/C?
This might be specific to series 1.5 cars.
My 84' 400i, series 2, has rear A/C but the speakers are on the rear shelf.
