If anyone out there has converted any Ferrari (or any other car) from K-Jetronic to an aftermarket EFI I'd be very interested in hearing about your experiences.

There has been several conversions performed. There is another Ferrari Forum that has a Project: Rebuild, Modification section. Just search EFI in the search bar and you should find a thread. There is a post that covers a conversion pretty well.

No point in changing the k-jet if your camshafts are "de-tuned".

Given the low dynamic compression of your car, I would suspect your inlet are retarded by quite a few degrees (makes it easier to pass emission and stabilize idle vacuum, which the k-jet likes). There was a discussion on the old forum (https://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/251131.html). I do not know how they retarded the inlet on the "US" 308, but on the 400i (gen1) they were just using the very same camshafts as the 400i (gen2) and 412, just tilting them. Undoing the de-tune was quite easy on mine.

I would just ask a mechanic to have a look at the timing first. With a bit of luck, just like my 400 you can easily increase the overlap and dynamic compression. Worst case your engine can only be restored to factory specifications, but a a properly timed engine works much better, so its money well spent.

As far as a k-jet swap is concerned, modern EFI do look odd in these oldies. Even an E-WUR is ugly as a sin. A k-jet with proper camshaft and an adjustable WUR tuned for more full load enrichment is far more elegant.

These guys do sell a conversion kit for Mercedes V8 : https://kjetkillers.pl/en_US/index

Should be possible to convert to use on Ferrari V8 with a suitable trigger wheel for the crankshaft. My F105L engine in my Lancia Thema 8.32 uses same injectors as the MB V8 and I suspect they are the same for 308's and 328's also.

Parts for these systems are really starting to get difficult to find. Lead times for rebuild services from CIS flowtech and others are very long..3 to 4 months when I last inquired. EFI conversion will be the norm in a few sort years. On the plus side..it's so much better of a system. CIS was great for its simplicity and reliability. But like anything else, it's just old now and way outdated. A 308,328,TR etc would really wake up with a good and proper EFI set up.

For the anniversary of the Renault 5 turbo Bosch launched a new batch of parts including distributor. So no parts shortage (expensive though).

Repairing a k-jet on your own is not worse than a set of Weber DCOE, and even much faster when considering the amounts of carbs a k-jet usually replaces.

Anyone who can make an EFI swap should easily fix a k-jet. Reverse is true: if you can't fix your k-jet forget about dialing EFI.

Kjetkilker kits do not offer fuel rails length for the Ferrari, so not plug an play, but some other solutions were advertised on FChat.

I stand by my remark that EFI on stock cams would be disapointing.
