    (DD=daily driver, by the way)

I loved that I could drive my 911's every day that it didn't rain.

The F430 seems to be lacking some creature comforts. The crudeness of the radio is one obvious point, and I've mostly solved that with a Parrot kit that includes an iPod interface-- it was pretty much plug and play, too, which is nice.

But I've been wondering, what else does this car need to make it more of a DD car, and it occurred to me that some of y'all likely went down the same route and added some items to make the car more usable every day.

    So, what did you do?

I think you'll soon find out that the world of ferraris is alittle different than that of the bug life. Radios, cupholders etc don't really add to the Ferrari experience.

Over in p-car land, they snicker at f-car guys who never drive their car, instead rubbing it down with a cloth baby diaper in the garage every night. I don't want to go that route.

For me just a ipod connector is all I need for more mundane driving. I find the 430 quite comfortable, adjustable suspension, power everything, ice cold a/c ect... The down fall is all the gawkers you have to deal with, it's a one man car show everywhere you go!

Financialman, thanks for the post. You're right about the A/C, it's very powerful. Coming from German cars, it's a nice change.

The gawkers, yes, that's a pain.

Found that Ricambi America has a cup holder that replaces the ash tray. Since I don't smoke, and do like transporting my morning coffee, that's a tempting mod for DD use.

Aren't cupholders all you need to add for a DD? (My wife won't let me swap ours out, however, because she likes the Pininfarina flags on the ashtray cover.) I suppose you could add Bluetooth for hands free phone use, but aftermarket exhausts are too loud to allow use of the phone much anyway. A better stereo with iPod integration would be nice, but it also would have to overpower the exhaust. Or I suppose you could stick with or go back to a stock exhaust. Maybe a front license plate and holder, so you don't get fix it tickets. A SatNav? What does a Porsche have for essential use as a DD that the Ferrari doesn't?

You did the ipod thing. So did I. What else do you need? To me, it's just as comfortable as a 911.

Did you somehow miss the Pininfarina travel mug? It's a bargain at only $575 and the crossed flags are an exact match to the ones on your ashtray cover.

I've had a series of 911's through the years and I, too, find my F430 more comfortable to drive.

    A couple of draw-backs:

    - Steep driveways... the car is too low. Driveways I could cruise into with the 911 require a slow, deep angle approach with the 430

    - Car show... these days, the 911 is not a crowd draw. I still have a 993 Cab and no one gives it a 2nd look. The F-Car on the other hand gets a few looks. But if you really want some looks, drive a Lambo... nothing else draws more attention... good, bad or otherwise.

    - Parking... always an issue with the Ferrari.

Other than that... you're good to go.
