Have you rebuilt your water pump?

Hi, as my QV has just arrived in the UK I thought it would be prudent to do a full service on the car. I've ordered all the belts, filters and fluids from Superformance.

The only part I didn't order (yet) was a water pump.

Has anyone reading this experience of rebuilding the pump?

Is it worth the effort? Do I need any special tools for the job?

Any other helpful tips would be really appreciated.

I didn't rebuild mine personally, but did have it done. It's not a terribly difficult job, but my rebuilt pump failed a year later. A new pump was less than $300USD, so I replaced it with a new one. I guess that's my way of saying I don't think it's worth the effort.
