The Dunlop Sport Classic, Vredestein and Radar ar modern tyres. So reall they should have a massive benefit of computer modeling for design work, but they still don't work in the wet as well as Pirelli. the the other big advant age computer modeling gives is rolling resistence and noise. which they are quite good at, but they still got trousered by Pirelli Actually they have got the sums wrong. the P5 should be a 1.2 not a 2.1

In many ways I have never been a big fan of Pirelli tires but have had some very positive experiences with them in heavy rain. They know how to make a tire work on wet roads.

After a major skid in the wet, I had a whole set of pirelli collezions p zero from longstone last year replaced a set of 14 year old modernish michelin sports. £1700 all in.. i would say a big improvement in ride, softer side walls suit the car and way better in the wet.

and what about grip? I would expect that to be right, these compounds they are using in Pirelli are modern and fresh.

i would expect the car to feel subtley nicer to drive, with a better feel and feedback throught the steering.

Thank youi for posting your coments. I love a bit of feed back.

Yes Dry Grip is better, the slight under steer I experienced in slower tighter corners seems to have gone, As i said an all all round nicer driving experience. I was thinking at one time about giving the dampers and bushings a going over to improve the ride, i no longer think that is needed. When i had the engine out service done earlier this year, the koni shocks and bushes all seemed in good order. I did take one off and tested it in a damper test machine and it was fine,

@Longstone Tyres For a testarossa with 16inch wheels. Would you recommend the P Zero or Michelin? I dont exactly see a back to back test out there. I currently have the BF Goodrich sport comp 2 in the rear and they are just OK.

Yep it would be good to see a back to back tyre test for a TestaRossa.

I'd go Pirelli. sticks like glue

    this is a deal

I think Michelin might return more miles. - maybe? i don't have any evidence one way or another, but i can't imagine the difference will be massive. However for many people it isn't the mileage that is the cause of changing tyres. What i have been discussing with Pirelli is exactly this, when you look at the performance of the Pirelli Collezione tyres in the tyre tests they perform exceptionally well, but the other thing that Pirelli are seriously considering when developing the compounds is making tyres that don't perish so quick.

i think the P-Zero System looks cool, but that is a personal taste thing.

I beleive the P-Zero was a Pirelli homologated option for the Testarossa at the time.

(Don't pressure wash tyres, and dont use chemicals when washing tyres.)

I'd go Pirelli, but the truth is they are both great.

(oh i forgot to mention, i have been in a ditch on the Pilot Sport, However the V8 Vantage was being driven by my brother in law at the time, and he is trouble at the best of times. It wouldn't be fair to blame the tyres.)
