That is extremely sad. I have met him before. He is a very nice guy and was a true car enthusiast. He had 2-3 young children....

Not a good first-plane for someone getting into warbirds. Did this guy have the hours or experience to handle something like a Sea Fury or Mustang?

    RIP though, man. Too bad...

I met Ray some years back, and to say he was anything but a class act, and one of the best ambassadors of the car hobby would be understating it. Pray for his wife and children as they approach the coming days, weeks, and months following this tragedy.

I met him a few times. Hard to think of a more genuine guy. All his self made success at his young age never interfered with his down to earthness. A tragic loss. RIP

yes he is an awesome person.. he is also my dad. he had several hours and experience. only the best pilots fought him. He flew at oshkosh too, formation in our snj. anyway something in the airplane broke. i think the governor which turned the prop eliminating all thrust so it couldn't fly. it was during take off. he already flew the sea furry and landed. but he went up for one more flight and thats when it malfunctioned. he was 100% capable of flying the airplane. and yes it did belong to howard before we got it.
