Ok guys, Some of you may know I sold my Stradale this past August. It went to a fellow Fchatter, that I actually hadn't even spoken with during the sale. We both use NJB in Columbus for service (which is outstanding by the way- most highly recommended), so there was some connection that way, and they did facilitate in getting the Strad to him safely. Not a day after letting it go, I was pretty regretful and even pestered him to get it back! We talked about me getting a replacement and talked about the Scuderia. So time goes on, and I have been looking. Yesterday, another Fchatter, James (Sellnit), contacts me to go to lunch today. Little did I know, it was to get me away from my house(he was in on what follows). Lunch didn't come together, but we made contact. Around 2pm, my doorbell rings. I go to the door and who is it??? Craig from NJB! It then goes like this...Hi Craig what the heck are you doing here in Cincinnati? Craig says he has something for me. Really? What in the heck could that be? Craig has me come out to my garages, and there.... is a beautiful Corsa Scuderia!!! Totally awesome Craig, but...um this isn't my car. Craig then tells me-yes that's right- it's Hawkeye's. Really. And why is it here? He wants you to drive it and enjoy it for the week! Me- almost pass out, and think this is a joke. No, it's not a joke. So I proceeded to take his beautiful 09 Scuderia for a drive with James. Guys- first I have to tell you, this is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me. I will remember it forever. Who does things like this these days?! It is an amazing dose of generosity and an example of a true Ferrari enthusiast and amazing individual. I will pay it forward for sure. So how was the drive? Out of this world! I am completely sold. A Scuderia will be in my garage soon. Hawkeye- thank you so much!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
thats the second scuderia I had ever seen and I still love it. Very jealous you got to steal it for a week
Fantastic story!! I bet that you don't realize why he did that? My opinion is that when He got your CS and saw how well preserved and maintained it is he thought that you will apriciate his scud like no other person would do. Sometimes mechanics becomes people of trust between owners. That is my opinion. Enjoy the car and I wish to have friends like that who really appreciates the love we put on cars! Very nice scud by the way!!
Hawkeye is one of the coolest guys in F-Chat land. He sent me pics from his trip to Modena, and I can say from others who know him, what a terrific person Chad is.
This is one of the greatest things I have read here in a very long time. Extremely classy gesture, and it makes me happy knowing there are still people like this in the world. Good on you Hawkeye!!
Amazing story!!! You don't hear about acts of random generosity happening like this much any more. I like the guy for his username (I'm a Hawkeye fan born and raised in Iowa and Hawkeye JJ25 is my xbox live username.....haha)
Chad's idea would seem to have a long tradition. Back in the early 1970's Noel Edmonds a BBC radio 1 DJ was having drinks with a few of his friends including one Reginald Dwight. Reg announced to all that it had arrived last week. "It" was a brand new Ferrari 365 GT/4 BB that was like every new Ferrari in very short supply. Reg further indicated that Noel 'who knew about these things' should try it out some time. Not very likely that a drive would follow except that 'Reg' the person offering his brand new Ferrari Boxer was the car mad Elton John. Sure enough the Boxer was delivered round to Noel's home the week after the offer had been made. Noel had the please of driving a brand new Ferrari Boxer for a week and reported about those experiences in his story 'Going 7 Rounds with a Boxer'. CH
Wow, that is incredible! Love these kinds of stories! Can't wait to see the Scud added to your stable.
Very cool. Well James has suggested that I document the week as well. This morning, after another unusually busy night shift at the hospital, I met my Dad and we proceeded to cars and coffee at Fuel Coffee down on the river. My Dad had ridden in the CS multiple times and loved it. He thought the Scuderia was equally spectacular. My thoughts after this morning again go to the shifting. I think the F1 superfast is addictive- particularly on the upshifts. I will give it to the CS on the downshift though- it beats the Scuderia in this regard. Downshifting in a CS is otherworldly. I echo the thoughts in other posts here that the Scuderia is a touch more refined compared to the CS. Maybe I'm just old, but I like that. Rawness goes to the CS. Again, both totally amazing. Best scenario would be to have both, like our friend Chad For me, I am trying to figure out how fast I can get the Scuderia in my garage. I have a GT3RS coming in a couple of weeks and have all but forgotten about it (and I am a dedicated Porschephile). Well guys, here is a pic from cars and coffee. More to come during the week... Scott it would be fun to hear about your week with the Scuderia. Great start; especially getting your father involved! CH
