Symptoms: Hazards only flash the RHS lamps. Direction indicators don't work at all.

My understanding is that part of the function of the hazard switch is to switch power away from the indicator circuit when in use and pass power to the indicators when hazards are not in use.

The flasher units clicks (and flashes the RHS lamps with hazard on) so I am assuming (!) it's OK.
My diagnosis is the hazard switch is dead.

I am looking at the wiring diagram to see if I can jumper power to the direction indicator circuit to confirm it works.

Does this sound sense?? If so how do I get the "plate" that holds all the switches, heat /air controls off the centre console?

    Thanks

Further thoughts: If I jumper power to "terminal" 49a of the flasher unit socket, it should provide power to the indicator switch to confirm left and right indicators work.

If I jumper power to 49+ the indicators should flash. However in this case power is being fed back to the hazard switch so probably best to put an inline fuse in the jumper lead.

Initially this is just to test to confirm the hazard switch is dead, though I might use it as a bodge till the season is over. I have a separate hazard unit that magnetically fits on the roof or clips to the window glass.

Work as stopped to allow the dehumidifier to work on the interior (Water ingress GTBQV Euro!)

Remove the ashtray inner tray. Take out the 2 screws. That will release the console cover for access to your switches.
Take apart the hazard switch and clean the contacts.

Long story short when my indicator or signal lights stopped working all I did was changed the hazard switch and everything works perfectly now.

Thanks. I just need to confirm it's the switch and then I'll pull it apart.

The top of the switch-the part that has the lever-came away from the body as I removed the wires! I managed to catch the plastic "slider". So I suspect the lever moved the slider but the slider didn't move the contacts. Time to clean the guts and then try Araldite!
Thanks for your help-quite a mess of wires under that console....

About £30 all in from Superperformance.
They are Uber delicate , reminds me of a Jack in box .As others have said once you ( accidentally) open them they never really go back together.

I modded / bought a new one to use the redundant fog switch + harness ( no front fogs on the 208 s ) to do the DLR lights .
The original fog switch fell apart and despite my best efforts .

Additionally I recall a sticky indicator when I first got it , intermittent turn signal.
I WD 40 d the steering stalk switch and very carefully in situ rubbed the contacts with ultra fine emery ( + WD 40 oil ) .
The the intermittency disappeared . So saved buying a new ( very expensive) steering column thingy .

The hazard switch thing came to light when I had the panel off to phaff with the fog light circuit.
I noticed with the hazard unplugged the indicators didn’t work .As I recall swapping switch’s the broken fog with the hazards thinking I never use them .Hence i ended up buying new and getting all working .

Yup, the indicator circuit goes "through" the hazard switch. It's perfectly feasible to jumper a wire so the indicators work (either under the panel or more easily at the fuse board). I have a magnetic Crash Flash that sits on the roof bearing in mind our lights are so low down. But I hate things not working and it would also fail it's MOT!

The quality of the one I removed is dreadful and judging by the contacts it's relatively new. I suspect the replacement may be from the same original source......
