My father has a 2001 360 Spider. When the battery is connected using the knob under the bonnet, the hazard lights will continue to blink. I don't know if it's related, but also the alarm LED to the bottem left of the steering wheel is also blinking as is the LED on the top center of the audio head unit. There is also a faint, intermittent chirping sound that occurs every few minutes. My father has grown increasingly frustrated with this vehicle as of late, but I would hate to see him let go of something that used to make him very proud and happy. After some searching, it seems that possibly the hazard signal button is broken and/or the alarm box battery is dead. The car has been sitting with the battery turned off under the bonnet for 3-4 months, but the battery itself was recharged on a monthly basis during that time. What steps can I take to isolate the problem? I'm going to at least order a new alarm box for the time being.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jon

[edit]Also, the key FOB locks and unlocks the doors, but there is no alarm chirp.[/edit]

yeah, sounds like your on the right track with the alarm siren unit.

if u start the car and watch the alarm l.e.d. If it stays on permanently after a couple of seconds it will need replaced either way.

but i'll agree with ur diagnosis and if u need advice on replacing it let me know. its pretty easy changed.

Thank you for your responses. I recieved a new siren box a couple days ago and installed it this afternoon. Fortunately, I decided to turn on the battery before reinstalling the panels and vapor barrier. The siren unit is quite loud and continues to beep after the battery is turned off. I disconnected the siren unit and waited for my hearing to return. I should also add that the car can still be started and driven, even though it seems to be stuck in panic mode.

Ferrari calls car alarms "OSD's" which roughly translated means "Owner Stranding Devices."

Pretty much useless for stopping thieves, but great at annoying owners.

    lol @ OSD comment!

Call it a Christmas miracle, but...
There must have been some magic in that red key fob Jon found.

With the siren box disconnected and the battery on, I closed the bonnet and doors and held the button on the red key fob for > 3s and the hazards and all the blinking lights stopped. I then armed and disarmed the system with the black fob, installed the new siren box and everything seems good to go for the time being. Dad is happy.

Thank you all for your input and informative write-ups.
