Most sports programs are sent in 720p, and that's probably better, because it has a higher refresh rate of 60Hz vs. only 30Hz for 1080.
Apparently, it's gonna be 1080i. From Autosport: Will Speed broadcast it that way I wonder? Cheers, Ian http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/88873
Hmm, that is interesting. I assume they have done testing to ensure it will look good. I guess that, even though the cars are fast, the cameras are panning with them, so the actual relative motion may be less than with soccer (where the players legs and ball movements are random and can be 'choppier'). I will be curious to see how it looks. I imagine Speed will definitely broadcast the races in HD - I am guessing FOM makes probably two feeds available (or they just send out the HD feed and let the locals downconvert if need be), and Speed seems pretty good about HD content where they can get it. So that's another reason to look forward to March Thanks for the link, Ian.
I heard that the BBC will be showing it in true HD as of this coming season but not on the cars because the camera's are too heavy.
