I recently made the switch from cable to AT&T Uverse. Part of the deal was a wireless box for each of my three TVs. The one in my bedroom is an old Toshiba 27" flat tube that I bought about 12 years ago and still works very well. After the installer left, I saw that he had simply connected the box to the TV with an old-fashioned coax cable, and picture quality was about what one would expect from that. The component video inputs on the TV are connected to a DVD player, but I could see that both the new box and TV have an S-video connection. I bought an S-video cable and connected the box to the TV using that.

The resulting picture from the HD channels is quite amazing. Although of course it's not true HD, it's absolutely the best video quality I've ever seen on an old-fashioned CRT TV. Switching back and forth from standard to high definition on the same channel clearly reveals a better level of detail and overall realism with the HD input.
